Just over a year ago Netflix was overtaken by the steamy unexpected hit365 Days, which ended the year as the streamer’s most watched movie, and it looks like fans of the highly sexed hit will be getting hot under the collar again as the sequel has apparently already started filming. Delayed from last August, principle photography is underway in Poland with stars Anna Marie Sieklucka and Michele Morrone back to reprise their roles in the erotic drama.

For those who somehow managed to miss the sex-fest, which arrived at a time when people had been locked indoors due to the pandemic, the story focused on Laura, a Polish woman holidaying in Italy who is kidnapped by mob boss Massimo. He is under the belief that she was the woman who he saw after being shot years earlier, and in kidnapping her hopes that keeping her hostage for a year will make her fall madly in love with him. As you do. This led to an outcry, as you would expect in current times, about the glorifying of sexual abuse and Stockholm Syndrome, which were further fueled by singer Duffy, who called out the production for the same reasons.

However, it is a work of fiction, and therefore should really be treated as such and not some step by step guide to dating. While many critics and viewers rated the movie terribly for its plot, that didn’t stop millions jumping on board to see what the fuss was all about. Mainly, it seemed to be about sex; multi-position, very real-looking and intense sex. For those old enough to remember, there was something of a9 ½ WeeksandWild Orchidfeel about the whole thing, with one scene lasting much longer than usual movie bunk-ups, and taking in more angles than Pythagoras.

As well as the subject matter gaining huge attention, it was the graphic nature of the sex scenes that also had most people talking. Many believed that the two leads had actually done the business on camera, something that has, if rarely, happened in a mainstream movie, and with streaming services not yet being under too much control, there was always a possibility that it could have happened. However, star Morrone denied that being the case in a number of subsequent interviews when the question…ahem…arose.

While there is little known about the plot of the new film, we can assume it will resolve the cliffhanger ending of the original movie, but as well it will likely follow the story of the novel series it is based on. The trilogy of books, which could be almost classed as Poland’s answer to theFifty Shadesnovels, all run in pretty much the same vein, so it is safe to say that fans of the wild, steamy action of365 Dayswill no doubt be in their element when the next installment arrives sometime next year. If it proves to be just as popular in viewer numbers, then we can surely expect the conclusion to the series arriving in a couple of years' time.
