John MalkovichandAyo Edebiriwill lead the cast of A24’s upcominghorrorfilm,Opus.The talented duo will lead a cast that boasts some impressive talent (viaDeadline), including Emmy winner Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus), Amber Midthunder (Prey), Stephanie Suganami (Dave), Young Mazino (Beef), and Tatanka Means (Killers of the Flower Moon).Yellowjackets’Juliette Lewis is currently in talks to join the film’s cast. Taking A24’s successful history with horror - the indie company is behind critically acclaimed genre films, includingTalk to Me, Under the Skin, The Witch, Misommar, and theXfilm series - and the impressive cast involved, this will be one to watch. No release date is yet known forOpus.
Opus, centered on an iconic pop star’s return following a decades-long disappearance, marks the feature debut of writer and director Mark Anthony Green. Musicians The-Dream and Nile Rogers, who recently earned a Grammy win for their joint effort on Beyonce’s “Cuff It,” will serve as executive producers and compose original songs for the film. The two will executive produce alongside Macro’s Charles D. King and Sara Newkirk Simon. Collin Creighton and Brad Weston for Makeready, Poppy Hanks and Jelani Johnson for Macro Film Studios, and Josh Bachove are set to produce.

During his decades-spanning career,John Malkovich has long been a renownedactor with multiple accolades to his name, including an Emmy Award win and two Academy Award nominations. The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri Is a Rising Star
Ayo Edebiri is a rising young starbest known for her roles as ambitious sous chef Sydney Adamu on FX’s critically acclaimed seriesThe Bearand Missy onBig Mouth. For her work onThe Bear, Edebiri has earned multiple award nominations, including an Emmy nod, and an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Performance in a New Scripted Series.
The series, led by Jeremy Allen White, Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, was recently (and not surprisingly)renewed for a third season.
This year was a big one for Edebiri. Besides starring in the second season ofThe Bear, she appeared in the filmsTheater Camp, The Sweet East, andBottoms, episodes ofBlack Mirror, I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson, History of the World, Part II, andAbbott Elementary, and voiced characters inSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Mulligan, Clone High,andKiff.She will soon join the MCU in the Florence Pugh and Harrison Ford-ledThunderbolts(Edebiri’s role remains undisclosed).
For her work off-screen, Edebiri received a nomination for the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Episodic Comedy forWhat We Do in the Shadow’s “Private School” episode.
