Aaron Taylor-JohnsonandTheo Jamesare joining forces for a new thriller… but no, it’s not for the next James Bond film. After finishing up production last year, the unlikely duo will be starring inFuze, which also boasts a stacked supporting cast. Now in post-production, the buzzy thriller is finally gaining some momentum as it has sold to numerous international distributors across the globe. It may not be the thriller fans of the actors haveenvisioned them in, but the creative forces behindFuzeshould be plenty to justify a viewing.

Varietyexclusively reports that in addition to Sky acquiring the film’s theatrical release in the United Kingdom and Ireland,Fuzehas secured spots in several other international markets, including Canada, Australia, Indonesia, and Latin America, among many others. As of right now, it is unclear when or ifFuzewill hit theaters in the United States, but expect news on that front to heat up as the film continues to market itself in front of potential buyers. Here is the current plot description as provided by Variety:

“The film opens with the discovery of an unexploded bomb on a London construction site. The ensuing mass evacuation is perfect cover for serious, organized crime.”

Hailing fromHell or HighwaterdirectorDavid Mackenzie, his new thriller could be the most action-focused project in his filmography, after working on Netflix’sOutlaw King,Under the Banner of Heaven, andStarred Up. The supporting cast ofFuzeincludes Sam Worthington, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Elham Ehsas, Honor Swinton-Byrne, and Saffron Hocking. Two James Bond Favorites Join Forces… but Who Will Be 007?

Before they do some organized crime inFuze, both Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Theo James have beenfavorites for the coveted role of James Bond in the upcoming reboot. The former has been especially present in headlines following his turn as Tangerine in Sony’sBullet Trainand in the much-maligned box office bombKraven the Hunter. While his potential 007 stock may have taken a hit,The White Lotusstar James continues to be a favorite to land the spy gig. However, it seems Amazon MGM Studios and their partners, including longtime producer Barbara Broccoli, could be looking at some very different faces for 007.

Best Theo James Movies, Ranked

While many may know Theo James for his work in Divergent, he has plenty of other movies you can check out.

It should be kept in mind that, despite both names being rumored for James Bond, many believe that the studio will be heading in a different direction. Like in the past, the eventual choice for 007 may be a relative unknown, or a subversive casting that echoes Pierce Brosnan nabbing the role all those years ago. The detail that will surely conflict with longtime fans of the franchise is the apparent focus ona lighter, “quip” filled versionof the spy hero. As Amazon MGM Studios now has a say in the new film series,James Bond could look vastly different from Daniel Craig’s gritty, drama-filled saga.
