Back in April, production began on 20th Century Fox’s highly-anticipatedAlien: Covenant, which not only serves as a sequel to 2012’sPrometheus, but starts a new trilogy that will help bridge the gap to the original 1979 classicAlien. Today we have word that production has officially wrapped, along with a final photo from the set with directorRidley Scottand starKatherine Waterston.

The set photo debuted through theAlienfranchise’s officialTwitter, which teased that “the next phase begins” after filming has wrapped. Unfortunately, the photo doesn’t reveal too much, although we haven’t seen or heard too much from the set since filming began. We did see a set video earlier this month that revealed aXenomorph, along with previous glimpses ofMichael FassbenderandDanny McBrideon the set. Unfortunately, we won’t be getting a glimpse of this movie at Comic-Con, since 20th Century Fox is skipping the convention entirely.

Ridley Scottreturns to the universe he created inAlienwithAlien: Covenant, which hits theaters on August 11, 2025. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world – whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. The story is reportedly set 10 years after the events ofPrometheus.

Last month, a new report claimed thatPrometheusstarNoomi Rapacehad arrived in Australia to start “a few weeks worth of scenes” onAlien: Covenant. There had previously been reports that her character,Elizabeth Shaw, the only human survivor of thePrometheusmission, had a small role inAlien: Covenant, although it was later reported that she was cut out of the movie entirely. Now it seems she’s back in the movie, but we don’t know how large or small her role will be.

Along with the Xenomorph, it has previously been confirmed that iconic Alien creatures such as theFacehuggerand Chestburster will be appearing in the sequel. The cast also includesDanny McBride,Demian Bichir,Jussie Smollett,Amy Seimetz,Carmen EjogoandCallie Hernandez.Ridley Scottis directing from a script byJack Paglen,Michael GreenandJohn Logan.
