Yesterday, fans finally got their first look atMichael FassbenderasCallum Lynchin the highly-anticipatedAssassin’s Creedvideo game adaptation. With production set to begin on Monday, the video game franchise’s Head of Content,Aymar Azaizia, held a Q&A session throughAssassin’s Creed’s officialTwitteraccount, where he shed some new light on this adventure. The executive revealed that the movie will be set in the same universe as the video game series, but will offer a whole new story, while teasing that fans may see some “familiar faces.”
“We share the same universe. Elements in the film have consequences as in our games, comics, and books. It’s a brand new story, w/ new characters set in our universe. It’s possible you may find some familiar faces.”
Aymar Azaiziaalso confirmed a report from last year, that revealedMichael Fassbenderis actually playing two characters, Michael Lynch in present-day scenes, and his descendant from the Spanish Inquisition, an assassin named Aguilar de Agarorobo. It was revealed yesterday that his present-day character is actually Callum Lynch, who was created specifically for themovie adaptation. He also confirmed that thevideo gamecharacter Abstergo will be seen in the movie, but it isn’t clear who is playing him yet.

Justin Kurzel, who directed Michael Fassbender in the upcomingMacbeth, directs from an adapted screenplay byScott Frank, Michael Leslie,Bill CollageandAdam Cooper.
