Ever since production started onAssassin’s Creed, Ubisoft’s head of contentAzaïzia Aymarhas been providing intriguing photos from the set of this highly-anticipatedvideo gameadaptation. Last week, he gave us a look atMichael Fassbender’s costume, although the star was facing away from the camera so we couldn’t see his face. Earlier today,Azaïzia Aymarposted new photos on hisTwitterpage, revealing two ancient Templar swords, which are in a display case at Abstergo Industries. The second photo is a close up of the pommel on one sword, which features the depiction of a famous Templar knight. Here’s whatAzaïzia Aymarhad to say on his Twitter page earlier today.

“Look at what I found on #assassinscreedmovie set! ThoseAbstergoguys just love Templars! Time for a close up! Who is the man on the pommel? #assassinscreedmovie #truetemplarwouldknow”

He later confirmed that the depiction is none other than Hugues De Payens, who was the first Grand Master of the Order of theKnights Templar. This French knight also co-wrote the Latin Rule with Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, the Knights Templar’s creed and code of behavior. Hugues De Payens lived from 1070 to 1136, and even though this adaptation will take place in two different timelines, both will be far after this historic knight’s time.

Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day. It has been confirmed thatMichael Fassbenderis actually playing two different characters, Callum Lynch and his Spanish descendant Aguilar de Agarorobo.
