Will Smithhas provided an update on the production of the highly anticipated action movie sequel,Bad Boys 4. Taking to social media, Smith, who will return to the franchise as Detective Lieutenant Michael Eugene ‘Mike’ Lowrey alongside Martin Lawrence as Detective Lieutenant Marcus Miles Burnett, shared a video of himself in Miami alongside a caption declaring “Damn, I LOVE this city!Bad Boys 4is coming fast y’all.”
As well as the footage of the actor having what appears to be a great time in Miami, Smith also revealed that filming now has “eight days” left. The upcoming fourth installment in theBad Boysseries is all set to be directed once again by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who found huge critical and financial success with 2020’sBad Boys 3, akaBad Boys for Life.

The last audiences saw of detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett was in the third outing,Bad Boys for Life, which sees them join the Miami Police Department’s special team AMMO to bring down the ruthless Armando, who is on a mission to kill Mike at his mother Isabel’s orders. The sequel introduces Jacob Scipio as Armando Aretas, who it’s revealed is Mike’s son. Which is no doubt something that will be explored further inBad Boys 4.
Directed by filmmaking duo Adil & Bilall,Bad Boys for Lifequickly became a huge success, receiving praise from both critics and audiences alike and going on to gross $426.5 million worldwide.
While plot details forBad Boys 4remain unknown at present, filmmaker Adil El Arbi has declared that there will be aslight change in tone, with the fourth movie leaning a little more into the comedic.
“Well, you know, the title that we like – I don’t know that they’re going to go for it yet – would be like ‘Bad Boys Ride or Die’ because ‘Bad Boys 4 Life’ is already taken. We didn’t know there was going to be a fourth one, you know?"
But yeah, what’s going to happen in this one is, I think that there’s going to be way more comedy. The third one had the dramatic tone. With this one, it’s really our purpose to get people laughing and having a good time in the theater. Martin [Lawrence] is going to a higher level in this one. This is the culmination of the Marcus Burnett arc.”
