WhileBam Margerasays he’s eager to leaveJackassin his past, he remains friends withSteve-O, one of his former co-stars from the franchise. Recently, Margera appeared as a guest for a remote interview forSteve-O’sWild Ridepodcast, and the two spoke about how they were happy to remain friends despite everything that happened withJackass Forever. While Margera was set to appear in the sequel, he had been fired early into production for violating an agreement that mandated he stay sober.
In the new interview with Steve-O, Margera suggests his firing was an overreaction. He refers back to when he got into legal trouble around the time ofJackass 2, noting that he was given a “high five” for his actions at the time. Margera then compares that situation to getting fired fromJackass Foreverover “sipping on a beer.”
“I got so much to say. In Jackass 2, I got … drunk at the LAX airport with brass knuckles, I got a fing felony charge, and I got a high five for good press. Now I wind up sipping on a beer out in front of a hotel on TMZ, and I get kicked out for being a liability. It’s just fing ridiculous.”
Steve-O tells Margera that things have changed sinceJackass 2, noting that back then, there hadn’t been the lengthy stints in rehab or any public meltdowns. He adds that, at a certain point, it stopped being “fun, funny, and cool,” and was no longer something they wanted to celebrate. But even with Margera’s continued issues, Steve-O says he campaigned for him to be brought back into the film, remarking that they came very close to making it happen.
“I was oddly, surprisingly, like campaigning to get you back in the movie. We were so close, Bam… I was like writing scripts for you, like, ‘Tell him this. Say this. And it’s going to help get you back in the movie.’ And we got you to a point where you had a Zoom call with Johnny Knoxville, Spike Jonze, Jeff Tremaine, and that was specifically the call where they were going to make the decision. You were all but back in, and you got loaded and missed the fing call. You got loaded and no-showed the call… They had to see you all wasted on social media the night before, so they knew exactly why you missed the call, and they were like, ‘F. We were this close to letting him back in, but he made the decision for us.'”

Bam Margera Says He’s Better Off
Bam Margera and theJackass Foreverteam were not able to resolve their differences during production. That resulted in a lawsuit filed by Margera against the filmmakers which has since been settled. The terms of the settlement have not been publicly revealed. It would seem thatJackassis now firmly in the past for Margera, but as he tells Steve-O, he feels that he’s much better off that way.
“I think everything’s meant for a reason, and I’m much better off not being in it. I’m happy to not be in it. I don’t want to do that anymore. I don’t want to be a part of it. I’m much happier without it… Now that it’s done and over with, I didn’t want to do it in the first place.”
