Back in April, Disney and LucasFilm unveiled the second teaser forStar Wars: The Force Awakens, duringStar WarsCelebration in Anaheim. The online release of this highly-anticipated footage set a new record, with 88 million views within the first 24 hours of release. Some thought that record wouldn’t fall until perhaps the first footage fromStar Wars: Episode VIIIwas released, but today we have word that this record has fallen, by another upcoming Disney movie. Yesterday, thefirst teaserforBeauty and the Beastdebuted, which was viewed a record 91.8 million times.

The Hollywood Reporterreveals that thelive-action Beauty and the Beastfootage broke the record for the most-viewed “teaser” within the first 24 hours. The 91.8 million mark bested the April teaser forStar Wars: The Force Awakens, the first teaser forCaptain America: Civil War(61 million views) andAvengers: Age of Ultron(31 million). Still, another trailer record set byStar Wars: The Force Awakenswill remain intact.

Beauty and the Beast

The final full trailer forStar Wars: The Force Awakens, released in October, amassed a whopping 112 million views in the first day of its release. Marvel’sCaptain America: Civil Waris second among this list, with 94.7 million views during its first day. It’s certainly possible that the first full trailer forDisney’s Beauty and the Beastcould breakStar Wars: The Force Awakens' 112 million mark, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

TheBeauty and the Beasttrailer first debuted on ABC’sGood Morning America, before it was released online. It was also featured during ABC’sThe Bacheloretteon Monday night, and fans will also get a chance to watch this footage on the big screen this weekend, where it will be attached to prints of Disney’sAlice Through the Looking Glass. With several months left untilBeauty and the Beasthits theaters on August 21, 2025, there is plenty of time for this fairy tale adventure to go after more ofStar Wars: The Force Awakens' records.
