Beetlejuicetold the story of two peaceful ghosts who were content to haunt their quaint country home. When a disruptive living family – and their goth girl daughter – moved in, they decided to call the ghost world’s best exorcist of the living: Beetlejuice.

Beetlejuice 2looks like it will give everyone the second generation of the original story. And what makes this sequel so great is that even the new additions to the cast look like they will be a perfect fit. Fresh off of his success fromWednesday, Tim Burton probably has a blank check from producers, and he’s chosen to cash it in onBeetlejuice 2.
Beetlejuice 2: The Plot
The week has been abuzz with exciting news about additions totheBeetlejuice 2cast. But the plot is being kept strictly under wraps. It’s still very early in production, so expect to be drip-fed information slowly leading up to the movie’s release date. However, we do know some things.
The originalBeetlejuicecentered around Lydia Deetz, a young girl with a gothic affectation that had moved into an isolated country home with her stereotypically suburban mother and father. What they didn’t know was that this house was haunted. A ghostly married couple had been “living” in the house until the Deetz family showed up.

Afraid they might be driven out of their family home, they resort to seeking help from a strangely bureaucratic netherworld office. There, they hire theghost world’s premiere bio-exorcist, a ghost who promises to scare the living off the premise and make their home free to haunt once again. What they hadn’t planned on is that Lydia isn’t afraid of ghosts, and Beetlejuice has his own plans for the world of the living.
Beetlejuice 2looks like it will bring the next generation into the story, with roles like “Lydia’s daughter” and “Beetlejuice’s wife” listed. The last movie ended with Beetlejuice and his evil schemes banished to the netherworld and Lydia and the ghosts all getting along. Now that Lydia is grown up with a family, maybe we’ll see her still living in that same house. The old ghosts might still be there. And everything could be going swimmingly until Beetlejuice somehow escapes his prison to cause more otherworldly trouble.

Beetlejuice 2: The Cast
News has been popping up all over the place about the creation of the perfect cast forBeetlejuice 2. There are rumors, hopes, and some genuine good news. But it all starts with the lead character. For over 30 years, Michael Keaton has said thatBeetlejuice 2was the only sequel he was interested in doing. Tim Burton has revealed in interviews that throughout his career, Keaton would contact him with an idea or speak about it to anyone who would listen. Now it seems he’s finally getting his wish.
As for the rest of the old cast, Winona Ryder is listed on the IMDb page and is thought to be a likely appearance, but there have not been any confirmed reports yet of her involvement with the film. Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis, who played the homebody ghosts, Adam and Barbara, have also not spoken up about their involvement either.
One exciting new face is Jenna Ortega playing Lydia’s daughter. Ortega is everyone’s favorite scream queen at the moment. She was literally in the movieScream VI. Most people are familiar with her work with Tim Burton onWednesdayor her explosion onto the scene inX. Film buffs agree that this is a perfect role for the horror actress.
Italian actress and modelMonica Bellucci is joining the castas Beetlejuice’s wife. And if that’s who Bellucci is playing, we can all agree Beetlejuice hasn’t done too bad for himself. Justin Theroux (Mulholland Drive,American Psycho) is in the cast as well. As is the recent addition of Willem Dafoe, who the gossip says will be playing a bureaucratic afterlife officer.
Early rumors about the cast included Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. And as great as it would be to see them involved, these are only rumors.
