The cast forBill & Ted Face the Musiccontinues to grow as the excellent sequel adds its princesses. Erinn Hayes will play Ted’s wife, Princess Elizabeth and Jayma Mays will play Princess Joanna, Bill’s wife. This comes after it was just announced that Amy Stoch and Hal Landon Jr. are back to reprise their roles as Missy and Chet Logan, respectively. Beck Bennett has been cast as Ted’s younger brother Deacon.
Deacon was originally played by Frazier Bain inBill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. He didn’t act much after that role in 1989 and went onto become a producer. Deacon didn’t actually appear on screen inBill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, but was mentioned in the Easter Bunny scene, where Ted steals his younger brother’s Easter basket.
Taking a cue from National Lampoon’sVacationseries, where different actors portrayed the Griswold children in the various sequels, this will mark the third set of actresses to play the medieval princesses.Erinn Hayesis taking over for Diane Franklin, who played Princess Elizabeth inBill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, and Annette Azcuy, who played Elizabeth inBogus Journey.
Jayma Maysis replacing Kimberley Kates, who played Princess Joanna inBill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, and Sarah Trigger, who played Joanna inBogus Journey. As for J. Patrick McNamara, who played Bill’s Dad Mr. Preston, he has not yet been announced as part of the cast.
Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are back forBill & Ted 3after years of teasing the project. However, ever since the sequel was green lit by the studio, the process has been moving fast. When talks began, it was only Reeves and Winter on board with a social media agreement from William Sadler to reprise his role as Death fromBill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. Now, we have the entire cast ready to go, so let’s hope that everything runs smoothly when production officially begins.
Yet tofulfill their rock and roll destiny, Bill and Ted are now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. Along the way, they will be helped by their daughters, old friends, a new batch of historical figures, and a few music legends. There’s a lot of potential forBill & Ted 3and Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon must have knocked it out of the park with their screenplay. Both Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves were apprehensive about coming back to the franchise after all of this time in fear they might ruin everything. With that being said, it doesn’t look like we have to worry about that happening.
Bill & Ted 3is set to be directed by Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest), from a screenplay by returning franchise writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon. The highly anticipated sequel will be produced by Scott Kroopf alongside Alex Lebovici and Steve Ponce on behalf of Hammerstone Studios. Steven Soderbergh, R. Scott Reid, John Ryan Jr., Scott Fischer, and John Santilli are serving as executive producers.Steven Soderbergh has also hyped the sequelup quite a bit.
Bill & Ted Face the Musicwill open in theaters on August 21st, 2020. In addition to the aforementioned actors joining the cast, Samara Weaving, Brigette Lundy-Paine, Scott Mescudi, aka Kid Cudi, and Anthony Carrigan have all signed on. Carrigan is on board to play the villain, but it isn’t clear if he will be playing the offspring from an already established figure, or a brand-new character. Whatever the case may be, his work on the hit HBO seriesBarryhas proven him to be a scene stealer.Orion Pictureswas the first to reveal the latestBill & Ted 3casting news.
