The wait for newBlack Mirrorepisodes has been a long one, though Netflix satiated appetites this past December when they released the first everBlack Mirrormovie with the interactiveBandersnatch. Now, we have a look at three all-new episodes coming this summer.
Don’t say we didn’t warn you!Netflixhas finally given us a look atBlack MirrorSeason 5 with episode titles, trailers & descriptions revealed for all three new episodes. This latest season will officially launch on Wednesday, June 5th, exclusively on Netflix, with all episodes available to binge stream at your leisure.
As previously announced,Black MirrorSeason 5 features three all-new stories from mastermind Charlie Brooker and executive producer Annabel Jones. The first of these episodes is titledSmithereens. The plot follows a cab driver with an agenda, who becomes the centre of attention on a day that rapidly spins out of control. This episode stars Andrew Scott, Damson Idris, and Topher Grace. The second new episode is titledRachel, Jack and Ashley, Too, which may garner a little more attention than the other two episodes included in this run. As it featuresMiley Cyrus making her series debut. She will appear alongside Angourie Rice and Madison Davenport in the story of a lonely teenager yearning to connect with her favorite pop star. Though, this teen soon finds out that the star’s charmed existence isn’t quite as rosy as it appears.
TheBlack MirrorSeason 5 finale is calledStriking Vipers, and it should garner a lot of attention too. The story follows two estranged college friends who reunite in later life. This triggers a series of events that could alter their lives forever. Marvel starAnthony Mackie headlines a castthat also includes Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Nicole Beharie, Pom Klementieff and Ludi Lin.
Black Mirroris an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia leading to an unforgettable - and sometimes unsettling - conclusion. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm - a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone - a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us.
