The actors ofIt’s Always Sunny in Philadelphiamay be far from the Marvel Cinematic Universe now, but one of them was very close to starring in one of the franchise’s most successful projects. In 2021, answering questions from fans on his Instagram page, James Gunn revealedGlenn Howerton was his second choiceto play Peter Quill aka Star-Lord inGuardians of the Galaxy.Of course, Chris Pratt ultimately took the role.
While it’s difficult to imagine anyone other than Pratt playing the part, Howerton would have been a good choice, especially for the film’s humor, since Pratt had also risen to fame thanks to comedic roles such as his participation inParks and Recreation.

In fact, in an interview withThe Guardian, theIt’s Always Sunny in Philadelphiastar recalled seeing Pratt at the audition, thinking he was perfect for the role saying, “I remember thinking: ‘Oh s**t, that guy’s perfect for this.’”
