Julia Stileshas finalized a deal to reprise her role as Nicky Parsons from the first threeBourne moviesin Universal’sUntitled Matt Damon Bourne Sequel, reuniting her with franchise starMatt Damon, confirmsDeadline. Nicky Parsons was a Treadstone employee who helped track downMatt Damon’sJason BourneinThe Bourne Identity, but she became an ally to him inThe Bourne SupremacyandThe Bourne Ultimatum, hinting in the final movie that Jason and Nicky may have had a romantic relationship before his amnesia. Aside fromMatt Damon,Julia Stilesis the only actor to appear in the first three movies.
We reported last month thatEx MachinastarAlicia Vikanderis being sought for a major role, butMatt DamonandJulia Stilesare the only two confirmedcast memberson board so far. No plot details have been released, butPaul Greengrassis directing and co-writing the script with Christopher Rouse.Frank Marshalland Jeffrey M. Weiner are producing, with Universal already setting a July 29,2016 release date.
In related news, producerFrank Marshallrevealed that pre-production is currently under way, and that everything is going well and that it’s a dream to be working withMatt DamonandPaul Greengrassagain.
“Well, it’s very exciting obviously. Working with Paul again and Matt and getting the team back together is kind of a dream. We’re in pre-production, the script’s there, we’re going to start casting soon, we’re looking at locations, it’s all going very well.”
The producer also talked about howThe Bourne SupremacyandThe Bourne Ultimatumwere both rushed to complete them in time, and how he doesn’t want to repeat that experience in this new project.
“Yes, I would like to avoid that experience. That was actually number two and number three, so that’s why we have spent a long time on the script development and pre-production and that’s all going very well and we’re not gonna have a race to the finish line. It’s going to hopefully be a slow walk this time.”
In another interview,Frank Marshallreiterated his previous statements about this project and theUntitled Jeremy Renner Bourne Sequel, stating, “they’re still two different projects, two different films.” There was talk thatJeremy Renner’s Aaron Cross could meet up withMatt Damon’s Jason Bourne, but it doesn’t seem like that is happening.
