Many critics continue to bashA Minecraft Movie(46% Tomatometer) in their scathing reviews posted to Rotten Tomatoes. However, the fans (87% Popcornmeter) can’t seem to get enough of the big-screen video game adaptation, even withthe controversy over the “Chicken Jockey” sceneand its troubling effect on some younger theater audiences plaguing auditoriums across the country. Despite those distractions, though, the theater-going public still gaveMinecrafta “B+” CinemaScore. Unfortunately, with Momoa and Black’s big-screen flick flourishing financially, there simply wasn’t an opportunity for the weekend’s new titles to even remotely challenge the No. 1 film for the top spot at the box office.
