Last month, actorChanning Tatummade the surprising announcement that he has joined the cast ofKingsman: The Golden Circle, through a post on his Twitter page. At the time, the actor teased that he’d be playing a “Southerner with good manners,” but no further details about his character were given. Over the weekend, the actor arrived on the London set, and we have the first images from the set, which appear to indicate that he’s playing one of the Kingsman agents.

The actor is seen wearing a dapper suit while entering a car parked outside theKingsmantailor shop, in photos that surfaced on Twitter this weekend. While we still don’t have any details about exactly whoChanning Tatumis playing, it seems clear that he’s a Kingsman agent. We don’t know for sure if he will be interacting with starTaron Egerton, who returns fromKingsman: The Secret Serviceas Eggsy. It’s also possible that he’s playing the American equivalent of a Kingsman agent, since we recently learned that this sequel will be partially set in America.

InKingsman: The Golden Circle, Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and Merlin (Mark Strong) visit the U.S., where they encounterHalle Berry’s character and a “swaggering, sharpshooting cowboy” called Jack, played byPedro Pascal. The U.S. version of Kingsman is an organization known as the Statesmen, andJulianne Moore’s character resides in a villainous lair known as Poppyland. DirectorMatthew Vaughnpreviously teased that the sequel will involve a skiing sequence, a barroom brawl, robot dogs, one-armed henchmen and a sequence where the protagonists have to fend off “a massive f***ing frankfurter.”

It was also recently teased that originalKingsman: The Secret ServicestarColin Firthwill return as Harry Hart, even though his character was presumably killed at the end ofKingsman: The Secret Service. The movie became one of the biggest surprise hits of last year, taking in $128.2 million domestically and $414.3 million worldwide, from just an $81 million budget. DirectorMatthew Vaughn, who co-wrote the script withJane Goldman, teased last year that it may be possible for Harry Hart to return, although details about his resurrection have not been released quite yet.

We also reported last month that music legendElton Johnwas being sought for a role in this sequel, but we don’t know for sure quite yet who he’ll be playing, or if he has officially signed on yet.Kingsman: The Golden Circlehas been given a June 16, 2017release date, putting it up against the Disney Pixar sequelCars 3.
