It Ends With Us,byColleen Hoover,is finally becoming a movie. There isn’t an official release date yet, but fans can’t help but wonder if there will be more Hoover movie adaptations. With a long catalog of published books (and more than 20 million books sold) and no signs of her stopping anytime soon, more movie adaptations sound like a great idea.

There has already been an adaptation of one of her novels, but it was a Prime Video show and did not gain a lot of traction. This show was calledConfessand was based on the book of the same name. The reception oftheIt Ends With Usmoviewill be very telling for whether more Colleen Hoover books will be made into movies, but if there are more movies coming, which books should be first?

It Starts With Us

It Ends With Uscenters on Lily, a young woman who has recently graduated from college and just lost her father. She is navigating grief associated with her father’s death while also coping with the knowledge that he was abusive to her mother during Lily’s teenage years. Lily finds herself stumbling down the same path as her mother when her seemingly perfect relationship turns abusive. She reconnects with an old flame who helped her through her discovery of her mother’s abuse as she herself is struggling with that.

It Starts With Uswould be a perfect second movie for Hoover because it is the sequel toIt Ends With Usand picks up where the first book left off. A series would be the perfect way to jumpstart a career on the silver screen for Colleen Hoover’s stories because longtime fans and movie fans alike would be on the edge of their seat waiting to watch Lily’s story play out.

Verity book by Colleen Hoover

Verityis one of Colleen Hoover’s most popular novels afterIt Ends With Us,making it a perfect movie candidate. This story follows Lowen Ashleigh, a writer who is struggling and nearly broke until the husband of a bestselling author hires her to finish his wife’s series while she is injured. Differing from most of her early work, this story has dark twists and unearths ominous secrets from the past, but is in no short supply of her well-known and enjoyed steamy scenes.

Ugly Loveis another popular story from Colleen Hoover. The book challenges the idea of love at first sight with attraction at first sight when young nurse Tate meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn’t have time for love, and he doesn’t believe in it, leaving them with sex.

In this genre and in real life, feelings often get in the way of these arrangements no matter how seamless they seem. This would be a great movie because it is one of Hoover’s more traditionally romantic stories and has plenty of steamy scenes that would work well on Netflix or HBO.

Reminders of Him

Reminders of Himis a great story and another very popular Colleen Hoover book. Her popular books would be a great place to start because fans of the books would surely support the movies, especially as she becomes more and more of a household romance name like Nicholas Sparks.

Reminders of Himtells the story of Kenna, who returns to her hometown after a tragic mistake lands her in jail for the past five years. She expects her return home to be difficult, but instead, it is nearly impossible. Her one supporter is a local bar owner, Ledger, and his support quickly turns into a romantic entanglement. Because of his belief in her, he tries to help her rebuild bridges without burning his own. This heartbreaking story would grab the hearts of viewers and make them longtime fans of Colleen Hoover.

November 9

Another Hoover fan favorite isNovember 9. This mysterious standalone story is unlike any book you’ll read, and hopefully any movie you’ll see. Fallon and Ben are both writers, and they meet the day before Fallon is moving across the country, but their attraction leads them to meet every year despite their relationships and lives.

It sounds like the perfect long-distance romance until Fallon starts to realize it might all just be for the plot — his novel’s plot, that is. This steamy and secretive story is one of the most interesting Hoover novels, and would make for a perfect Hollywood adaptation, a potentiallygreat movie about writersand the nature of fiction.

All Your Perfects

All Your Perfectsisregarded as the saddestbook in Hoover’s oeuvre. Quinn and Graham have a picture-perfect meet-cute, and the book fast-forwards to their not-so-perfect married life. They struggle with infertility and the ultimate question of marriage: Is their love enough to survive a lifetime of imperfection and pain?

Slammed Series

Colleen Hoover’s novels are reminiscent of Nicholas Sparks in the sense that the books are steamy and romantic, but many of her books contain deeper, darker, or heavy themes in addition to the romance. One thing that would set her apart from Nicholas Sparks and theusual romantic tearjerkersis her use of lengthy, linear series in her bibliography. Series are popular in the book and movie world because they give readers more time with characters they’ve grown to love. HerSlammedseries is a great example of books which could be turned into an excellent television show or series of films.

In the first book of the series,Slammed, 18-year-old Layken’s father dies, and she quickly becomes her family’s support system without having one for herself, until she meets her new neighbor, Will. He becomes exactly what she needs, but after an inevitable shock to their relationship, only slam poetry can help either of them.

Point of Retreat

Point of Retreatis the second book in this series and smooths out the wrinkles in Layken’s and Will’s story. There are moreshocks and plot twistshere. Ultimately, the two of them are left in a position to decide if their future is worth fighting for, and if they decide it is, it might take a miracle to make it work.

This Girldoesn’t follow the same structure as the first two books in theSlammedseries do, but provides context in fascinating ways. This Girlis told in flashbacks and revisits times in the first two books as well as personal flashbacks of Layken’s and Will’s lives.

After fighting for their relationship in the last two books, Layken and Will are married, but one more secret from Will’s past forces him to open up like he never has before. How they handle the flashbacks of their past will determine if there is a future for these two.

Hopeless Series

TheHopelessseries from Colleen Hoover is another set of books that would be a great fit on the big screen, specifically ifAll Your Perfectsis made into a movie before it.

Hopelessis the first book in this series and follows a troubled young girl, Sky, who meets Dean, an unexpected rival who brings up even more unexpected feelings. She tries to fight her feelings, but falls hopelessly and quickly understands why he behaves the way he does, but it’s too late for her to back out now. Her faith is put to the test by an erratic boy that makes her feel hopeless and the scars he helps her uncover.

Losing Hope

Losing Hopefocuses on Dean and his story. Sky is someone he couldn’t save in his past life, and until he found her, he couldn’t overcome his guilt. In the second book of this series, it becomes clear how much his past has haunted him and how loving Sky might be the only way he can truly heal.

Finding Cinderella

Finding Cinderellacan be read as a standalone novel but ties into other Colleen Hoover books, so if they are all made into movies, these crossovers would make them all the more compelling. This story follows Sky and Dean’s friends Six and Daniel. In a more complex Cinderella story, the question is: Are fairytales magical in real life, or are they just magical when we wholly believe in them?

Finding Perfect

Finding Perfectis the final installment in theHopelessseries. It is a novella, so it would be a little trickier to turn it into a full movie. Nonetheless, it would be rewarding as it concludes Daniel’s story fromFinding Cinderellaand brings back Graham and Quinn from

All Your Perfects.

It would be great to see all these Colleen Hoover books be made into movies and more, but that’s getting a bit ahead of ourselves, considering her first movie doesn’t even have a release date yet. Regardless of wishful thinking, all of these books could make fantastic movies or series, and it would be a dream come true to see this wishful fantasy become a reality.
