Nearly a month afterCoyote vs. Acmewassaved from the scrapheap by Ketchup Entertainment, having previously been discarded by Warner Bros. as part of a tax write-off, star Will Forte has vowed to go to extreme lengths to promote the Looney Tunes movie ahead of its theatrical release, which is expected to roll out sometime next year — even if it means climbing to the top of Mount Everest to shout about it from the rooftops (or, in this case, the mountaintop) to help generate interest and make it a box office success.

While attending the Los Angeles premiere of his new showThe Four Seasons, Forte briefly turned his attention to a project he filmed long before the Netflix miniseries: the formerly shelvedCoyote vs. Acme. The cameras started rolling on the hybrid live-action/animated legal comedy in March 2022, with Forte starring as Wile E. Coyote’s lawyer Kevin Avery opposite John Cena’s Acme Corporation attorney Buddy Crane, but Warner Bros. later removed it from its release scheduleas part of a tax write-off, which also resulted in the cancellation ofBatgirlandScoob! Holiday Haunt. The actor told The Hollywood Reporter that “words cannot describe” how he feels about the recent rescue of the long-dormant Looney Tunes project.

Now That ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ Is Getting Released, Can We Have This ‘Looney Tunes’ Show Back, Too?

‘The Looney Tunes Show,’ which only lasted for two seasons, saw America’s beloved cartoon characters transported into suburbia for hijinks.

“I never thought it would happen, so it just came out of nowhere, and I’m so thrilled. Thank you, Ketchup Entertainment. I’m so excited for people to see this movie. I’m gonna promote the crap out of it. Just tell me what you want me to do, and I’ll go, I’ll do whatever — go to the top of Mount Everest, I’m there.”

Will Forte Blasted Warner Bros. Decision to Shelve ‘Coyote vs. Acme’

Forte previously took shots at Warner Bros. for its controversial decision to drop an anvil onCoyote vs. Acme, one year after it had finished filming. Speaking to MovieWeb in February, before Ketchup Entertainment acquired the rights to the movie, the actorexpressed his frustration over the situation, saying, “My thoughts were that it’s fking bullst,” before adding, “It is such a delightful movie. It deserves so much better… I can’t tell you possibly why the decision was made to not release it, but it makes my blood boil.” He continued:

“I like talking about the movie, because I want them to — I don’t want people to forget what they did to us. That being said, I appreciate them letting us make it. But like, you know, don’t let us make this thing that we fall in love with and then not show it. I mean, I would understand if the thing sucked, but it’s really good.”

Ketchup Entertainment’sCoyote vs. Acmerescue mission marks the end ofa tireless campaign by the cast and fans, who advocated for the movie to be sold to another studio for distribution. The movie finally found a new home after negotiations led to the rights being acquired as part of a $50 million deal with Warner Bros. It is one of the most high-profile projects that the studio has attained yet, having previously been behind the likes ofHellboy: The Crooked Man,Goodrich, andThe Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie.

Coyote vs. Acmeis directed by David Green from a screenplay by Samy Burch. DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn served as one of the producers, and he also received a story credit alongside Burch and Jeremy Slater. The movie’s all-star cast includes Forte, Cena, Lana Condor, P.J. Byrne, Tone Bell, and Martha Kelly. Longtime Looney Tunes voice actor Eric Bauza also participated in the project, though it’s unclear which classic characters he brought to life. The film does not yet have a firm release date, but it’s expected to bow in 2026.
