There’s no telling what the multiverse will bring for our heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it doesn’t hurt to think big when imagining possible crossovers. Recently,DaredevilandDaredevil: Born AgainstarCharlie Coxattended Fan Expo Dallas with co-star Vincent D’Onofrio, and the pair took part in a panel discussion to field some questions. PerCinemaBlend, Cox was asked about possibleDaredevilstorylines he’d like to see adapted in live-action, though the actor was hesitant to answer the question, feeling that only makes sure that it won’t be.With that said, Cox does have one idea that he’s willing to divulge, but only because he feels that there’s no realistic chance that it would actually come to be. That’s when theDaredevilstar namesTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesas the franchise he’d love to see merge with the MCU. Even if that can’t happen, it would be “really cool” if it did, as Cox said:

“So you can’t really answer that. Can I tell you why? Because every time you answer that question so publicly, it then becomes a news story, and then as soon as it becomes a news story, you can’t do it. So I’m really hesitant to do that. What will never happen, which would be really cool - I can say this - it’d be really cool if the Ninja Turtles showed up in Daredevil.”

The idea of a crossover withDaredevilandTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesis not that farfetched. Cox also spoke about how he learned of the creators ofTMNTcreating the original comic book after they were inspired by Daredevil’s origin story. The thinking is that the same chemicals that blinded Matt Murdock had seeped into the sewers, then proceeded to transform a group of turtles into the Heroes in a Half-Shell that everybody knows and loves. As Cox says:

“So I didn’t know this until a couple years ago, but apparently, the creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were big Daredevil fans of the comic. And so in Daredevil, the toxic spillage that blinded Matt Murdock in his origin story, it then went into the sewers, and it created the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Which is why in Daredevil, we have Stick, and then the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, they have Splinter. And then there’s the Hand and the Foot. Anyway, I like that. I love that stuff. It’s pretty cool.”

We should also point out that superheroes teaming up with the TMNT would be nothing new. Released in 2019, the crossover filmBatman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtleslet fans know what a crossover would be like with the Dark Knight and other DC characters. Perhaps a Marvel crossover could be what’s next, at least that would be the case if Cox gets his way.

In the meantime, production onDaredevil: Born Againhas been suspended amid the ongoing writers strike, though the plan was to shoot the 18-episode series all year with a premiere on Disney+ next year. As for the Ninja Turtles, you may catch them on the big screen whenTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhemhits theaters on Jul 04, 2025.
