Deadpool & Wolverinedirector,Shawn Levy, has already packed the new movie full ofcameos for long-time Marvel fans.However, it’s not enough for some, as fans have been asking whether an extended cut of the film could be released in the future, a ‘Levycut,’ if you will.Deadpool & Wolverinehas shot to the top of the box office, quickly becoming the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all-time domestically.

Shawn Levy spoke toColliderabout the success ofDeadpool & Wolverine, and was asked about the potential for an extended cut of the movie to be released in the future.Levy quickly shot down the idea, much to the disappointment of fans. The director said that the version ofDeadpool & Wolverineshown in theaters is the final cut. Levy, Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, and everyone involved were extremely happy with the theatrical cut, and did not deem it appropriate to re-edit the film into a longer version. Levy said:

This is the cut of the movie. There will be no extended cut because this is the cut that we wanted.

Deadpool & Wolverine

A follow-up to the highly successful Deadpool and Deadpool 2 films starring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth. The third film will be the first in the franchise to be developed under the Marvel Studios banner following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox.

However, not all hope is lost for MCU fans whowant to see more ofDeadpool and Wolverine.While an extended cut is pure myth, Reynolds and Levy have teased what will be included in the movie’s bonus features when it’s released on Blu-ray later in the year, and it seems like slim pickings. The special features will include some deleted scenes, a director’s (and actor’s) commentary, as well as a montage of alts. Levy said:

There are, however, a few deleted scenes which will be included. As well as a commentary by Ryan and I.

Ryan Reynolds then hyped upDeadpool & Wolverine’s gag reel. The actor explained that the gag reel primarily features alt takes of the jokes shown in the film. In his own words:

“And a gag reel. There’s a pretty fun [gag reel]. The gag reel isn’t bloopers as much as it is alt takes and moments, because everyone’s so professional on this movie.”

His signature sense of humor extends to his social media presence, especially his hilarious online feud with his wife, Blake Lively. As a result, some fans believe that Reynolds is naturally that fast witted. But the actor says that he does a lot of comedic preparation for his films.

During the conversation, Ryan Reynolds explained the lengths he went to during production to ensureDeadpool & Wolverinewere as funny as possible. The actor said that, as well as writing multiple jokes for himself, he would also prepare one-liners for the most insignificant background characters, just in case he struck comedy gold. Reynolds explained:

“I think a lot of people think I just kind of show up, and you pull a string and I kind of improv through the day. I don’t.We write everything. We write 10 alternate jokes to any given joke. Not just for me, I write jokes for other characters. Someone who maybe has never even had a line in the background.”
