We could be seeing more ofDonald Gloveras Lando Calrissian in theStar Warsfranchise. Originally played by Billy Dee Williams, Glover took over the role of Lando for the 2018 filmSolo: A Star Wars Story. While some fans have campaigned for the underrated film to be given a sequel, there have been reports that Lucasfilm’s future plans don’t include any more prequel projects without the legacy actors in the roles. Even so, there have been rumors of Glover getting his ownLandoseries.
In a new interview withGQ, Glover addresses the current status of young Lando in theStar Warsuniverse. He seems to have nothing but fond feelings for the character, noting how he’d happily reprise the role if that’s where Lucasfilm wants to go. Glover then reveals that he’s actually speaking with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy about the possibility of revisiting Lando, though he adds that he needs to be very careful with his words, so as not to reveal too much more. It will have to be a two-way street, however, as Glover says the story for Lando would need to feel right, otherwise it wouldn’t be worth his time.

As Glover says in the interview:
“I mean, I would love to play Lando again. It’s a fun time to be him. It just has to be the right, it just needs to be the right way to do it… I’m not so much interested in doing anything that’s just gonna be a waste of my time, or just a paycheck. I’d much rather spend time with people that I enjoy. So, it just has to be the right thing. Which I think it could be. I mean, Lando’s definitely omebody I’d like to hang out with. So, yeah, we’re talking about it. That’s as much as I can say, you know, without Kathleen Kennedy hunting me down.”

Kathleen Kennedy Teased the Lando Series
Back in May, Kennedy spoke about recastingStar Warslegacy characters with new actors in an interview with GamesRadar. She noted how theLandoseries was still a possibility, but similarly stated how such a project getting the greenlight would depend upon having a solid enough story idea to justify the spinoff. As Kennedy says:
“I never say never. It’s certainly not something that we’re doing with any intention right now. We’re still talking about Lando with Donald Glover, for instance, but I don’t think we would intentionally just look back at some of the characters like Luke and Leia and whatnot and decide arbitrarily to do a story. There would have to be a really strong reason why.”
Time will tell if we’ll see Lando again inStar Warslore. you’re able to view the full interview with Glover below.
