It was announced two months ago thatGoosebumpsdirectorRob Lettermanwas in negotiations with Warner Bros. to direct theDungeons & Dragonsreboot. Now, the studio has confirmed that the man is aboard. Warner Bros. is moving full-steam ahead on their live-action redo of the belovedRPGafter winning full control over the film rights earlier this year.
According toVariety,Rob Lettermandelivered a presentation for hisD&Dmovie that wowed executives and won him the job. The filmmaker had been the front runner for many weeks. But the studio required a visual presentation before they would officially signLetterman. What he brought to the table was reportedly quite amazing.
This new take onDungeons & Dragons, which first became a movie back in 2000, is being produced byHasbro’sBrian GoldnerandStephen Davisalongside Sweetpea Entertainment’sCourtney SolomonandAllan Zeman.Roy Leeis also on as a producer.Rob Lettermanwill be working from a screenplay written byDavid Leslie Johnson.
Dungeons & Dragonswas in development a while before the lawsuit between Hasbro and Sweetpea reared its ugly head. They studios argued over sequel rights, and the court case delayed progress on the movie. The settlement was finalized in late August of 2015. Soon after, Warner Bros. announced that pre-production was happening.
