Shudderis the go-to streamer for horror aficionados. With a mix of acquired and original scary flicks, most fans are bound to find something to vibe with. Whether you prefer the supernatural, psychological horror, or something in between, Shudder is the place to be this June.

May brought several iconic titles, including Kevin Bacon’s 1990 hitTremors. June is keeping up the hot streak, with two huge James Wan/Leigh Whannell collabs making their way to the platform. There’s also a pair of Shudder original movies. We don’t typically think of summer as peak horror season. That’s a time typically reserved for the fall. But Shudder’s impressive upcoming collection shouldn’t be slept on. In fact, you might not sleep at all after watching these movies.

Streaming June 1

Shudder kicks off the month with the first of theirpair of James Wan/Leigh Whannell flicks. 2007’sDead Silencefollows Jamie Ashen, who is arrested after his wife is mysteriously murdered. He’s released due to a lack of evidence and returns to his hometown to search for answers. The name of “Mary Shaw,” a local, deceased ventriloquist, seems to have a strange connection to Jamie’s town and family. Throughout the movie, Jamie has several more encounters with the paranormal, including a truly horrifying twist ending.

Dead Silencestars Ryan Kwanten, Amber Valletta, Donnie Wahlberg, Bob Gunton, Keir Gilchrist, and Michael Fairman, among others. However, it wasn’t exactly a hit with audiences or critics when it was initially released. The story, characters, and twist ending were criticized, and the film only reaped $22 million against a $20 million budget. Wan attributed some of the fault to his earlier work,Saw, as he believed audiences may have been expecting a similar story here. But in the years since,Dead Silencehas developed a cult following among some more devoted fans. Maybe it can pick up a few more horror loverswhen it hits Shudder on June 1.
