The internet strikes again. While a sequel to the classic Jim Henson movieLabyrinthis in development, a poster advertisingTom Hiddlestontaking over the role of the Goblin King in a remake of the film is most definitely fake. What is more, the poster has been causing a stir in the last few days despite originally being created and shared by well-known fake posterFacebook creator Yoda BBY ABYseveral months ago.
The poster features a hyper-realistic version of Hiddleston, complete with wild blonde hair, eye make-up, and mirrorball jacket, standing above a hazy labyrinth. In a similar reaction to that of aproposed Rob Zombie Nightmare on Elm Street remake posterfrom the creator, the poster went viral and many people instantly began to believe that this could be a genuine thing – even though no such movie has been publicized and, according to the poster, it is being released in November 2024.

What is more telling of the current state of the world, when time means very little in the digital media industry, many people are only now discovering this fake poster despite it originally being shared back in May. you’re able to see the full poster below.
While many were not deceived by the poster, the reaction outside this ranged from those who were fully on board the Loki star taking over the rolemade famous by Bowie and his bulge in 1986, and those who find the idea of anyone touching that movie as nothing short of blasphemous. It is probably for the best, then, that this is one remake that is definitely not happening, even if the story ofLabyrinthcould finally be about to continue in a new sequel.

A Labyrinth Sequel is Finally Moving Forward
Labyrinthis one of those movies that has grown in popularity over several decades. Having originally been a flop on its theatrical release, creator Jim Henson did not live to see the film finally discover its audienceas a beloved cult classic due to his untimely death in 1990, but the enduring love for the movie has now finally led to a sequel.
Having been in development for more than a decade, theLabyrinthsequel seems to finally be finding its footing. Earlier this year, Brian Henson, son of Muppet visionary Jim, offered a positive tease about the proposed follow-up, saying:

“Well, that’s a question you have to ask my sister. My sister Lisa, who’s CEO of the Jim Henson Company. That is a project that we are very excited about, but we can’t talk about it.”
Jennifer Connelly Shares View on Labyrinth’s Popularity: ‘We Don’t Make Movies Like That Anymore’
The success of 1986 movie Labyrinth did not happen overnight, but star Jennifer Connelly knows why it is so loved today.
Although it is by no means certain to make it to the finish line, there could not be a better time for aLabyrinthsequel to happen. Audiences have been very receptive to nostalgic legacy sequels, and even though the film would have to find a way around the loss of Bowie as the devious Goblin King, there are many other avenues the new film could go – after all, it is a very big labyrinth, and there are many corners of that world that lie undiscovered.
The originalLabyrinthis currently streaming on Hulu, Prime Video, and for free on Tubi.
