Season 2 of Amazon Prime Video’sFalloutis ready to go, according to its showrunner, Graham Wagner. Based on the beloved video game franchise,Falloutis set in a 1950s-inspired, retro-futuristic post-apocalypse. The series follows three characteristically different survivors; Lucy (Ella Purnell), a Vault-Dweller on the hunt for her father, Maximus (Aaron Moten), a Brotherhood of Steel initiate searching for glory, andThe Ghoul (Walton Goggins), a bounty hunter who kills for sport. Season 1 laid the perfect groundwork for a second season, and fans are already desperate to see it.

Speaking toCollider, showrunner Graham Wagner said Season 2 ofFalloutis “ready to go.” Wagner declared it is down to Amazon to green-light a second season. Wagner said, “It is a big show. And it is a big investment. I think Amazon wants to be absolutely sure they want to make a second season before they pay for it all.” Graham Wagner said he and Geneva Robertson-Dworet (who co-created the show with Wagner) already have ideas for Season 2. “We wrapped Season 1 [and] we started working on Season 2.” Wagner then continued, “We’re at a point where we just have to hire writers, write the episodes, shoot the episodes.”

Fallout’s Season 1 finale ended on a major cliffhangerwhich has fans of the games excited. Without delving too far into spoilers, the final shot of Season 1 revealed a major location from the games that fans have been desperate to see in live-action for nearly 14 years. The finale also left the characters' futures uncertain, with Maximus being forced to fight with the Brotherhood, and Lucy and The Ghoul setting out together into the Wasteland.

Graham Wagner Wants to “Shrink That Gap” Between Seasons 1 & 2 of Fallout

TheFalloutseries was first announced in July 2020, but the games' developers,Bethesda Studios, have turned down pitches for nearly a decade. Through the COVID pandemic and the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, it has takenFalloutfour years to reach Prime Video for audiences to devour. During the interview, Wagner said he is desperate to “shrink that gap.” Wagner said he hated the waiting that followed cliffhanger endings, “as a viewer, I could barely handle theTNG[Star Trek: The Next Generation] season finale cliffhangers.”

Graham Wagner is conscious of leaving fans reeling for too long after dropping an atomic bomb of a cliffhanger inFallout’s Season 1 finale. “Leaving the people on a cliffhanger for two years is a bizarre impulse.”
