In two weeks, 20th Century Fox’sFantastic Fourhits theaters nationwide, giving fans a much different version of Marvel’s First Family than we saw in the original 2005superhero movie. Today we have a slew of new videos for the upcoming reboot, including four featurettes that delve into scientific aspects such as alternate dimensions, teleportation, wormholes and invisibility. If that wasn’t enough, we also have two TV spots with brand new footage. And Doom finally speaks!
These previews introduce fans to an actual theoretical physicist,Dr. Michio Kaku, who reveals that theFantastic Fourwere his favorite superheroes growing up. He adds that some of these theories regarding alternate dimensions might not be as far-fetched as fans may believe, adding that “science and fantasy aren’t too far away from each other.” These featurettes also include new footage fromFantastic Four, featuring starsMiles Teller(Mr. Fantastic),Michael B. Jordan(The Human Torch),Kate Mara(The Invisible Woman) andJamie Bell(The Thing).
Fantastic Fouris believed to be inspired by the “Ultimate Fantastic Four” comics, featuring much younger versions of these heroes than the original comics, and the movies they’re based on.Fantastic Fouroffers a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team. The story centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.
The supporting cast is rounded out byToby Kebbellas Doom,Tim Blake Nelsonas Harvey Elder andReg E. Catheyas Dr. Franklin Storm, the father of both Sue and Johnny Storm. We don’t have word yet if Harvey Elder will transform into his comic book alter-ego, The Mole Man, but it’s possible that this may be saved forThe Fantastic Four 2, which has already been given a August 01, 2025 release date. It is rumored that 20th Century Fox wantsBryan Singerto direct the sequel, which will then segue into a crossover movie featuring both theFantastic Fourheroes and mutants from theX-Menfranchise.Bryan Singerhas confirmed that plans for this crossover are in the works, but we’ll have to see if it comes to fruition.
Do you thinkFantastic Fourwill be a huge hit when it arrives in theaters August 7? The originalFantastic Fourand its sequelFantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surferperformed well at the box office during its theatrical runs, but they were by no means blockbusters. Perhaps this reboot could take the franchise to new heights, but we won’t know for sure until it hits theaters. In the meantime, check out the featurettes and TV spots below.
