Netflix is officially getting in on the aftershow game, and they’re probably doing it at the perfect time. To coincide with the release ofStranger Thingsseason 2, the streaming service has announced that the beloved sci-fi series is getting a recap series, officially titledBeyond Stranger Things. The first season will run for seven episodes and, just like every other Netflix show, every episode will be made available On October 27, the same day thatStranger Thingsseason 2 drops.

Most aftershows, like AMC’sTalking Dead, are meant to be viewed immediately after each episode of its respective parent series. However, in the case ofBeyond Stranger Things, fans should not watch a single episode of it until they’ve finishedStranger Thingsseason 2. So this is really more of a companion series that takes the aftershow concept, but applies it to the habits of those who binge watch shows. AMC has led the way with aftershows, with host Chris Hardwick leadingTalking Dead,Talking BadandTalking Saulfor the network. HBO has also had success withAfter the Thrones. Considering the success ofStranger Things, it makes perfect sense for Netflix to give fans something more to watch. It will also help them further capitalize on the popularity. The series will heavily incorporate fans, as the opening visuals were created byStranger Thingsfan, graphic artist Wahyu “Pinot” Ichwandardi, and the opening theme music is a remix composed by another superfan, Daniel Rosenfeld.
