The first part of the triptych featuresWendy Robie,Everett McGillandJames Marshall, withSheryl Lee,David Lynch,Kyle MacLachlanandSherilyn Fennfeatured in the second, andMadchen Amick,Dana AshbrookandPenny Liptonfeatured on the final cover.Kyle MacLachlanwas the first actor confirmed, coming back to reprise his original role as Special Agent Dale Cooper. With a number of other original stars returning, most assumed they would be playing their original characters, but that isn’t exactly the case.
Entertainment Weeklycaught up withDavid Lynch,Kyle MacLachlanand many others. While Showtime initially ordered a nine-episode season fromDavid Lynchand series co-creatorMark Frost, it was later rumored that it would be an 18-episode season, which was eventually confirmed. It was also learned much later on that bothDavid LynchandMark Frosthad written one massive script, which would be filmed as a gigantic movie and then cut up into individual episodes during post-production. Here’s whatKyle MacLachlanhad to say about the experience of just reading this massive script, whichDavid Lynchhimself describes as, “A feature film in 18 parts.”

“I think it took me six hours and a few cups of coffee to read. But it was wonderful.”
Kyle MacLachlan’s Special Agent Dale Cooper was featured in the show’s notoriously infuriating series finale cliffhanger, where he ventured intoThe Black Lodge, which leads into an entirely new otherworldly realm, where he was assaulted by his doppleganger, who took his place in the real world, controlled by the succubus known as BOB, played by the lateFrank Silva. When asked if fans will finally get some clarity regarding the events of the series finale, Showtime presidentDavid Nevishad this to say.

“Twin Peaksis a cosmology. What I think is satisfying about the new version is that it’s a deeper exploration of that stuff. What is the Red Room? How does the Red Room work? Where isAgent Cooper? Can he make it back?”
EW has also released new photos, which offer a first look atDavid Duchovny, who returns as DEA Agent Denise Bryson, along with more glimpses at the stars featured on the trpitych cover. EW also caught up withKyle MacLachlanandSherilyn Fenn, who both revealed their favorite moments from the original series. Here’s whatSherilyn Fennhad to say about her favorite moment, from an earlyTwin Peaksepisode, where her character Audrey Horne broke into an impromptu dance.

“The dancing scene, the day of it, David showed up and said, ‘Alright, everybody get a cappucino, we’re rewriting the scene, and Audrey, you’re gonna dance at the end.’ And I was like, ‘Whaaat?'”
Kyle MacLachlanrevealed that his favorite moment was even more bizarre. While he wouldn’t specify what episode this happened in, the actor recounted his bizarre confrontation with a llama in an animal hospital. Here’s what he had to say below.

“That obviously, we weren’t prepared for that. Stuff like that happened all the time. David calls them happy accidents. He really embraces them.”
