We have a brand new, full-length trailer forThe Punisherseason 2 on our hands. Unfortunately, it appears as though the Netflix era of Marvel is coming to an end, as the streaming service has canceledIron Fist,Luke Cageand, perhaps most surprisingly,Daredevil, leaving justJessica JonesandThe Punisherstanding. It’s largely expected that both remaining shows will be canceled swiftly after their new season’s drop. But fear not, as Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle is coming back for what looks to be a very bloody and action-packed goodbye, if indeed this is goodbye.

Things start out withFrank Castlebeating up an entire bar’s worth of people beforeWould?by Alice in Chains kicks in to really get the vibe right. We then get to the heart of the matter as the showdown between Frank and Jigsaw is set up. From that point, it’s all out war with lots of action, destruction and an absurdly high body count. This is the R-rated Marvel content many of us are going to miss once these shows are gone for good.

Marvel Studios simply isn’t going to do anything this gritty or violent within the framework of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, at least not in the foreseeable future. It’s a side of Marvel that fans are surely going to be sad to lose. But at least we’ve got a bit more to look forward to before it’s over with. The Punisherseason 2 arrives on January 18.
