The countdown towardsSeason 5ofGame of Thronescontinues, with just under three weeks left until the season premiere"The Wars to Come"debuts Sunday, April 12 at 9 PM ET on HBO. Aside from all of the narrative questions fans have been asking in the lead-up to this season, many are also wondering ifSeason 5will actually spoil certain moments fromGeorge R.R. Martin’s last two books in hisA Song of Fire and Iceseries, which have yet to be published. While we wait to see when these books will finally arrive, series co-creatorDavid Benioffrevealed that they have been talking with the author for quite some time, and they know where he is heading, and that does means certain aspects of these unpublished books will be spoiled for readers. Take a look at what he had to say below, during an appearance at The Oxford Union with co-creatorD.B. Weissand starsKit Harington(Jon Snow) and John Bradley (Samwell Tarly).

“Luckily, we’ve been talking about this withGeorgefor a long time, ever since we saw this could happen, and we know where things are heading. And so we’ll eventually, basically, meet up at pretty much the same place whereGeorgeis going; there might be a few deviations along the route, but we’re heading towards the same destination. I kind of wish that there were some things we didn’t have to spoil, but we’re kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. The show must go on… and that’s what we’re going to do.”

We already know that Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) will meet Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) this season, an event which hasn’t even happened in the books yet. We have also reported that popular characters Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright), Hodor (Kristian Nairn) and Meera (Ellie Kendrick) will not be seen at all inSeason 5, since their story line has already caught up to the books. It isn’t known what other deviationsDavid BenioffandD.B. Weisshave planned, but we also reported that there will be a few characters who are alive in the books that will die this season.
