We haven’t heard any updates sinceNetflix passed on Girl Meets Worldearlier in the year. But today, series creator Michael Jacobs announced that the show will not return on a different network or streaming service for new episodes. Here’s what the series creator and showrunner had to say about the matter.

Aside from Netflix, it isn’t clear where elseMichael Jacobsshopped the show, but it seems that he spent the last few months searching for a new home for this series. Michael Jacobs made this brief announcement on the officialTwitteraccount for the show’s writers room. Back in January, while discussing the cancellation with The Wrap, Michael Jacobs said that he didn’t think the show should have been cancelled, since they had signed on to do four seasons. Here’s what Michael Jacobs had to say in his January interview, teasing discussions with other possible network and/or streaming homes after theGirl Meets World cancellation.
“We are certainly having discussions, there are some interested platforms. I don’t think Girl should have been canceled. We signed to do four seasons. I thought we would be able to tell stories through four seasons. That’s the way we set it up. It was going to be a remarkable final year. But I understand, things end.”
However, an individual with knowledge of the sitcom’s contract revealed they had actually signed on to do three seasons, although there was an option for a fourth. Shortly after the cancellation, series starsRowan Blanchardand Sabrina Carpenter issued heartfelt statements to express their gratitude to the cast, creators and the fans throughout their three-year run. The show’s third season ended on January 20, with that episode now officially confirmed as the series finale.
