God Is a Bulletfinally has a release date and poster. Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Boston Teran, and true events, the upcoming action thriller will be written and directed byNick Cassaveteswhile also featuring an all-star cast consisting of Maika Monroe,Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Karl Glusman, January Jones, Paul Johansson, David Thornton, and Jamie Foxx.
The plot of the film concerns a police detective named Bob Hightower (Coster-Waldau), whose wife and daughter have both been kidnapped by an insidious cult led by a maniacal leader (Glusman). Deciding to take matters into his own hands, Bob teams up with Case Hardin (Monroe), the only female victim to escape from the cult, in order to close the case and save Bob’s daughter. To do so, the two of them end up “down the rabbit hole” along with The Ferryman (Foxx).
Originally published on June 20, 2025, the road toward turning Teran’s novel into a film has been long and hard. At one point, Ehren Kruger, whose credits includeScream 3,Reindeer Games, andThe Ring,hadacquired the rightsto the book back in 2008. Cassavetes, meanwhile, said that he’s been trying to tell this “great story” for over eighteen years. Additionally, the director had this to say in a press release about why he liked the film.
“It’s tough, violent, has two flawed and fantastic characters, and absolutely pulls no punches. I love it! There’s nothing else out there like it, not even close!”

One of the producers ofGod Is a Bulletis Michael Mendelsohn, who also producedLord of War,The Matrix,Air Force One,What Women Want,Reservoir Dogs,Hangman,Sleepy Hollow, and many more. ForGod Is a Bullet,Mendelsohn is working on behalf of Patriot Pictures, an award-winning independent production studio that, besides distribution, packaging film production and cast along with financing. Their recent efforts include work onBlackout,Cut Throat City,Prisoners of the Ghostland, and the also upcomingGet Lost.

In addition, financing for the film was done by Mendelsohn’s Union Patriot Capital Management. Besides him, other producers of the film include Donald V. Allen, Kim H. Winther, and Jim Steele. Executive producers include Foxx, Natalie Perrotta, Paul Johansson, Sidney Kimmel, Chuck Pacheco, Jim Steele, and Santiago García Galván.
God Is a Bulletwill have its wide theatrical release exclusively in the United States on July 25, 2025. A digital release within the same country will occur on June 08, 2025. Patriot Pictures will handle the film distribution alongside XYZ Films, an independent studio on a worldwide mission to empower visionary storytellers, and Wayward Entertainment, a multi-platform genre and alternative studio focused on working with unique voices.
