Seminal author Neil Gaiman has revealed that a third season ofGood Omenshas already been mapped out, and that it would be based on an idea for a follow-up novel that he and the late, great Terry Pratchett devised in the 1990s. Speaking withSFX Magazine, Gaiman explained that the upcoming second season ofGood Omensis an original idea thought up by him that could be used to lead into the ideas planned out by himself and Pratchett all those years ago.

“Because the hypothetical season three exists, there is a story that is there, and I didn’t feel that we could drive straight from season one into that. I knew what the stakes were. I knew what the parameters were. I also knew that I had David [Tennant] and Michael [Sheen]. I had the angels from plot number one. I had demons from plot number one. And with anybody that I wanted to bring back, but didn’t have room for right now, I did not have to bring them back as themselves.”

Based onNeil Gaimanand Terry Pratchett’s 1990 novel, the first series ofGood Omensintroduces audiences to Michael Sheen and David Tennant as Aziraphale and Crowley, an angel and a demon, who over 6000-years have formed a bond that transcends their respective sides in the holy war. Picking up with the pair in 2018, the long-time angel and demon acquaintances have grown accustomed to life on Earth as representatives of Heaven and Hell but must seek to prevent the coming of the Antichrist and thus Armageddon, in the final battle between Heaven and Hell.

Originally intendedas a standalone series(there is only one novel after all), the first season ofGood Omenswas met with rave reviews. Particular praise was heaped upon the delightful duo played by Sheen and Tennant, whose collective charm was simply far too divine for just one adventure…
