After nine seasons of playing Barry Allen in the Arrowverse,Grant Gustinwill say goodbye to the role in the upcoming series finale ofThe Flashon The CW. Meanwhile, another incarnation of the speedy superhero will soon be racing to theaters as well, as the movie version ofThe Flashwill be premiering in theaters less than a month after the final episode of the TV show airs. Given the close proximity of these events, Gustin admits in a new interview (viaTVLine) that it feels a bit “weird” having the film’s release “looming the whole time,” finally getting its long-delayed release almost immediately after his own run in the role is wrapping up.

One burning question some fans will have is if Gustin will make one last appearance as his Barry Allen with a cameo in the movie. It’s not outside the realm of possibility, given how Ezra Miller’s Barry met Gustin’s Barry in The CW’s crossover eventCrisis on Infinite Earths. The multiverse leaves the door wide open for the reverse to happen for the film, but Gustin isn’t admitting to anything. He insists he’s not a part of the movie with not even a cameo appearance, though given how Andrew Garfield spent months saying that before the release ofSpider-Man: No Way Home, fans may still be skeptical.

“There’s been a lot of rumors out there for a long time,” Gustin explains. “No one’s come out and directly asked me, on the record, the entire time. People ask me on the street all the time, and I’m not keeping some big elaborate secret, no.”

Grant Gustin Can’t Wait to See Michael Keaton Back as Batman

Like many fans, and with Gustin insisting he’s just “aFlashfan” at this point, the actor says he’s anticipating the return of Michael Keaton at Batman. As Keaton hasn’t played his popular incarnation of the role since 1992’sBatman Returns, the comeback has many fans tremendously excited.

“[I’m curious to] see Keaton back in the suit and how they incorporate it,” Gustin said. “But also just, it’s always exciting to see a feature of that scale, and what they’re going to be able to do with Flash in that setting, in that type of vehicle. As aFlashfan myself now, I’m just excited to see how they do it.”

It’s probably worth noting that even if Gustin is playing coy about a came that he has in fact secretly filmed, he still may not have seen Keaton at all on the set, as that’s what Ben Affleck, who returns as his alternate Batman, said about his experience with the film.

“I don’t believe [George Clooney’s Batman] in theFlashmovie,” Affleck said onJimmy Kimmel Live!whenasked aboutthoserumors. He added, “But then again, I didn’t even see Michael Keaton, so maybe [Clooney] is there?”

We’ll find out who’s inThe Flashwhen the movie is released on August 20, 2025, following the series finale ofThe Flashon The CW on July 29, 2025.
