Green Lantern Corps Still Wants Tom Cruise as Hal Jordan?

It looks like Tom Cruise is back in the running for the role of Hal Jordan in Warner Bros.' planned Hal Jordan/John Stewart buddy comedy flickGreen Lantern Corps.. It’s said that last year Cruise turned down the role in theGuardians of the Galaxy-style adventure because the original script had Jordan getting killed off - which didn’t sit right with theMission: Impossible - Falloutstar. And today we’re hearing that Warner Bros. wants to put all of that back-and-forth behind them and officially snag Cruise as Jordan as soon as possible.

That said, there’s currently no word on whether or not this means the powers that be behind the scenes ditched Jordan’s death from the new script or ifTom Cruiseis just, you know, cool with the plot development now. WhileGreen Lantern Corpsseems to be stuck in development hell at the moment, Warner Bros. evidently still has every intention of making the film’s planned July 24th, 2020 release date. And I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if that happens. But sources say that if Warner Bros. can’t inlist Cruise for this newGreen Lanternmovie, they have other “A-list” stars in mind. But there’s no word on just who those other A-Listers might be.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather see Cruise beat the brakes off Justin Bieber than worry about resurrecting theGreen Laternfranchise. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see a decentHal Jordan / John Stewart team-up moviehit the big screen as soon as possible, but I could take or leave Tom Cruise. After all, everyone in Hollywood thought that casting Cruise would make yet another reboot ofThe Mummywork - and look how that Dark Universe turned out. All I’m saying is that Warner Bros. need not put all their eggs in the Ethan Hunt basket.

Anyhow, the next time we will see Tom Cruise up on the big screen will be inTRON: Legacy,Oblivion, andOnly the Bravedirector Joseph Kosinski’s upcomingTop Gun sequel Maverick. The newTop Gunmovie is all set to co-star Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Miles Teller, Lewis Pullman, Glen Powell, and Ed Harris. And let’s not forget the epic return ofBatman ForeverandThe Ghost and the Darknessstars Val Kilmer as Iceman.
