Harrison Fordjoining the MCU is something that no-one really expected, but following the death of William Hurt, the Indiana Jones star stepped up to take on the role of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in the upcomingCaptain America: Brave New Worldand is also expected to appear in Thunderbolts. However, there is one potential future for the character that Ford has now addressed, and that is his potential to be transformed into Red Hulk just like the comic book iteration of the character.

During an interview withComicbook.comahead of the release of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Ford’s response to the question of whether he will become Red Hulk in future was pretty much exactly as you would expect from the veteran star.

“What is the Red Hulk?”

After having a brief update on the history of Red Hulk, and Ford jokingly chastising his Dial of Destiny co-star Phoebe Waller-Bridge for not bringing him up to speed on the Marvel Universe’s potential, he gave a very non-committed answer as to whetherRed Hulk could feature in Captain America: Brave New World, saying, “it may or it may not.”

This is really exactly what you would expect, both from Ford’s own way of handling this kind of fantastical franchise details that hehas found himself in the middle of, and the fact that there is still a lot of secrecy around where the story of Anthony Mackie’s first movie as Captain America is heading.

How Will Captain America 4 Impact the MCU?

With only a handful of details known about the new Captain America movie, it is hard to tell exactly where the MCU will be heading after the movie tells its story. However, based on the casting, some unexpected MCU returnees and plenty of rumors it is easy to draw a potential picture of how pivotal to the franchise’s futureBrave New Worldwill be.

When the cast list forCaptain America: Brave New Worldwas gradually revealed, it turned out that the movie became something of a reunion forThe Incredible Hulkcast. Tim Nelson reprises his role as The Leader, while Liv Tyler is also back as Betty Ross and Harrison Ford picks up the role of Thaddeus Ross from William Hurt. This puts a completely different spin on the movie to how many believed it would be going down, but it does manage to tie together the second MCU movie, with previous Captain America movies andThe Falcon and the Winter SoldierTV series, which all have the common thread of super-soldiers and genetically modified characters running through them.

However, in addition to this, there has been a strong rumor that the film will be finally putting to rest all of those complaints that we haven’t heard anything about that giant Celestial head and hand that were left sticking out of the ocean at the end ofEternals. Those rumors suggest that the corpse of the giant space being will lead to the discovery of Adamantium in the MCU, the substance that gives a certain X-Men character regeneration abilities and some pretty fearsome claws. With the X-Men loitering on the fringes of the MCU, all of this seems very plausible, but how it all fits together is something that we are still a little way from finding out.
