Nick Moran, best known forplaying the lead snatcher ScabiorinHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1andPart 2, was recently hospitalized after sustaining a “life-threatening” injury that could have left him unable to “walk or talk again.” According to Daily Mail, the British actor and filmmaker underwent emergency surgery after a shock diagnosis, which revealed that the pain he had been experiencing in his neck was caused by damage to his spinal cord and “some of the things that operate your speech and your legs.”
The actor’s friend, Terry Stone, revealed that it was Moran’s girlfriend who insisted that he see a doctor about the pain he was in. After getting a professional opinion on the matter, he was sent to A&E for an emergency operation. If he had not had the pain promptly checked out, he could have been rendered speechless and immobile. The procedure was described as “risky” as it involved an incision into Moran’s spine and the removal of four bones from his neck, which were replaced by artificial bones.

Fantastic Beasts proved Harry Potter spinoffs could be successful. Here are a few beloved characters we believe should get their own movie or series.
Stone shared an update on Moran’s condition post-surgery while also stressing the importance of seeking medical intervention when experiencing a health concern:

“[Doctors] basically said [ahead of surgery] that he might never walk or talk again, which was traumatic. He’s not in the best of health, but when he came out of the operation, I was like ‘thank god’ because I think he’d decided he’d rather not walk or talk than die… He’s speaking now, which is a good sign, but he’s shuffling around like 100-year-old and has a neck brace on and taking it easy.”
Moran’s representative confirmed to People that the actor had been hospitalized but is now back home and recuperating after recently going under the knife. “Nick had surgery a little over a week and a half ago and is home walking, talking, and making a full recovery,” they said, continuing, “Nick will be back working on his next film shortly and is looking forward to being back at the studio, tending to his busy schedule.” They added that “Nick would like to thank all of the well-wishers and assure them that he is well and appreciative of their support.”

In addition to his role in theHarry Potterfranchise, Moran famously starred as Eddy the card shark in Guy Ritchie’s directorial debutLock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
