Exactly two years ago today, the very first teaser trailer forStar Wars: The Force Awakensdebuted, which would go on to set viewing records within the first 24 hours of its release. Many fans had hoped that the first trailer forStar Wars 8would arrive at around the same time, sinceproduction wrappedon the sequel back in July. Today we not only have word that the first trailer is being assembled, set for release early next year, but an exciting line of dialogue from that trailer has supposedly leaked.
AYouTubeuser dubbed “Mike Zeroh” was contacted by a number of individuals who apparently have knowledge of the trailer being put together, although Mike Zeroh admits that two of these sources are “questionable.” Apparently these sources have a connection with an audio engineer who is currently putting together the first trailer forStar Wars 8, which contains a line thatMark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker says toDaisy Ridley’s Rey. Here’s what “Mike Zeroh” had to say about this line.

“Four people reached out to me through various forms of social media such as Twitter, Facebook message, YouTube messaging, and what’s very interesting to me is two out of the four are quite questionable at the moment, but the other two are very trustworthy. There is this audio engineer working on a line fromMark Hamillhimself, a trailer is being put together as we speak, to debut in Quarter 1 of 2017. In the actual teaser or the trailer, there is going to be a line presented byMark Hamillhimself talking to Rey, and the apparent line is ‘You contain the spark that will rekindle the fire.'”
InStar Wars: The Force Awakens, we did get our first glimpse atLuke Skywalkeron the hidden planet of Ahch-To, when Rey comes to give the Jedi warrior his lightsaber back. We never get to hear Luke Skywalker speak in these final moments, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the first trailer features Luke Skywalker speaking for the first time, in this new trilogy. There wasn’t any context given as to where in the story this line may be delivered, but it’s possible that this is what Luke tells Rey shortly after their meeting inThe Force Awakens, sinceStar Wars 8picks up directly afterThe Force Awakens’ ending. It’s possible that Luke said this to Rey because she may be the person to restore the Jedi order to its former glory once again, but that has yet to be confirmed.

Many fans had hoped the first trailer would be attached to the firstStar Warsspin-off,Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which hits theaters on December 16, but if this report is to be believed, we’ll have to wait a bit longer. It’s possible that LucasFilm will debut this trailer during theSuper Bowlnext year, since that does fall within this rumored time frame for theStar Wars 8 trailer’s release. Take a look at the video below from YouTuber Mike Zeroh, as we wait for more updates onStar Wars: Episode VIII, hitting theaters June 24, 2025.
