Ewan McGregoris now a member of hallowed Hollywood, and he shared that heartwarming moment with a very dear friend on Thursday. There’s never been any question that the Force is strong with McGregor, both within the confines of that galaxy far, far away and in the actor’s real life. Now, though, the 53-year-old performer has been honored with star No. 2,789 on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And theStar Warsmainstay was reunited in sunny California with Darth Vader himself,Hayden Christensen,who showed up to support his good friend and colleague — and say a few words on McGregor’s behalf. The actor began by recounting their very first meeting, which took place on the set ofStar Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones(2002). Christensen said (per theHollywood Walk of Fame):
“And we start chatting, and he’s just the nicest person. He’s telling me how excited he is to be working together and how much fun we’re going to have doing our lightsaber training. He’s just beyond kind to me, and it was immediately apparent to me that I was meeting someone very special — and not just as an actor, but as a person — and that I was meeting a friend.”

Christensen continued by hilariously twisting his heartwarming story into the duo’s career-defining moment, as Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi, at any rate, specifically when the two Force wielders battled on the fiery planet of Mustafar at the epic conclusion ofStar Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith(2005). Christensen waited for the applause to subside a bit before sarcastically pointing out how that fateful lightsaber duel ended. Christensen continued by saying:
A friend who would later go on to chop off both my legs and leave me for dead [McGregor and the crowd erupts with laughter] on the side of a volcano, but I guess I kind of had that coming.

Ewan McGregor has made many fantastic filmsover the course of his storied career. And while the Golden Globes winner (Fargo) has never received an Oscar nomination, theStar Warsactor is now a member of the Hollywood elite on Tinseltown’s vaunted Walk of Fame. Hayden Christensen is eager to point out, though, that McGregor is more than simply a skilled thespian — he’s an extraordinary individual. Christensen said during the same speech:
“When I think about Ewan, I think about the person that he is. A lot of stories come to mind, but I often think about the first time that I met you. We were both in Australia many moons ago getting ready to do Star Wars: Episode II, and I was at the studio where we were going to be filming. The producer was taking me around, showing me some things, and he was going to take me to meet Ewan for the first time. I was so excited. I was already such a huge fan of his.”

Christensen continued:
“So, I walk into this room where I’m told Ewan’s going to be. And before I can even put eyes on him, I hear his voice. And he exclaims my name with more enthusiasm than I think I’d ever heard it spoken with [McGregor laughs]. And I turn, and I see him. And then he’s coming at me, and he just gives me the biggest hug, like the most disarmingly warm embrace […] He’s just the nicest person.
With his legacy forever cemented on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it’s back to business for the talented actor.
