The upcomingHarry Potterreboot has cast several beloved members of the popular franchise, including the Malfoy family. Previously played by Tom Felton and Jason Isaacs, fans can now learn who will portray Draco and Lucius Malfoy in the HBO reboot. A very important member of the Weasley household has been cast, too.

HBO announced thatHarry Potterhas cast Katherine Parkinson (Rivals) as Molly Weasley, Lox Pratt (Lord of the Flies) as Draco Malfoy and Johnny Flynn (Emma) as Lucius Malfoy. Those anticipating bigger names for the iconic roles may be disappointed, but a good chunk of the original cast in the film franchise only became household names after the fact. Additionally, the new actors seem especially prepared to tackle a television role. Six other new cast members include Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown,Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, and Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge.

‘Harry Potter’ HBO Reboot Casts Another Key Role

The team behind the high-profile TV adaptation have tapped an Olivier Award-winner to join its star-studded cast.

The Draco Malfoy casting arrives just as it was announced Tom Felton would reprise his role inthe Broadway production ofHarry Potter and the Cursed Childas an older version of the character. While the main members of the film franchise have not returned for theCursed Child, it seems others are slowly warming up to the idea of returning to the iconic franchise. That said, HBO’s reboot won’t feature any of the previous actors, as the series is committing to a totally fresh adaptation. Additionally, unlike Felton, most of the original main cast have come out against J.K. Rowling’s controversial and hateful rhetoric against trans rights. Felton recently revealed that Rowling’s views have not affected how he perceives the iconic property.

And she’s responsible for that, so I’m incredibly grateful.”
