It’s hard to tell if audiences really care aboutProfessor Xand Lex Luthor’s transformation into bald characters. Or if it’s just an easy talking point. Thus far, we have no clue howJesse Eisenberg’s super villain loses his luxurious locks inBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but we know it happens at some point. The actor was revealed for the first time with a bald scalp. But in all the photos and video released since then, he has shaggy blonde hair. The same goes for Professor X. In the original movies, the aging Professor X played byPatrick Stewartin 2002’sX-Menwas introduced as bald. But when played byJames McAvoyin the prequels, he’s always had a healthy head of hair. The actor revealed early on that he would finally be loosing his 70s style hairdo inX-Men: Apocalypse. Now, we finally now how that happens.
James McAvoyrecently appeared onThe Graham Norton Showalongside co-starDaniel Radcliffeto promote their monster thrillerVictor Frankenstein.Daniel Radcliffe’s head was shaved to the scalp, and for good reason. He is currently shooting Imperium, where he plays an FBI agent infiltrating a group of Nazi skinheads. The subject of bald heads was broached. AndJames McAvoygot pulled into the conversation. This is what he had to say about going bald forX-Men: Apocalypse, a movie that takes place in1983.
“He ends up going through something so horrible and painful that he literally half pulls his hair out half… it falls out.”
Of course, the actors behind any blockbuster superhero movie are under contract not to talk about it. And it seemsJames McAvoyslipped up in revealing this much about the return of Professor X, who is now ten years older than when we last saw him inX-Men: Days of Future Past. He tries to backtrack in the interview, going onto say this.
“Maybe or maybe not! I just sh-t myself because I know, Fox Studios who own me might be angry with me for sharing that.”
Right now, we’re not sure what is so horrible and painful that it causes him to pull his hair out. But there’s a chance that it’s tied to the main villain,Apocalypse, played byOscar Isaac. This big blue mountain of evil is being touted as the very first and most powerful mutant to ever walk the earth. Having to face off against that is surely a stressful time in one’s life.
Upon awakening after thousands of years, Apocalypse is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartenedMagneto, to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven with the help of Professor X must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction. And even if they managed to save the world, we know thatXavieris not going to walk out of the madness with a full head of hair. What do you think? Are you excited to see Professor X pull all of his follicles out. Or were you hoping for a scene where all his hair falls out at once?
