It has been more than 15 years sinceKing of the Hillended its impressive 13-season run, but Hank Hill and the gang will finally return to screens this August when the 14th season of the beloved animated sitcom premieres onHulu. The good news is that the revival series already appears to have the seal of approval from critics, as it has debuted with an extremely rare Rotten Tomatoes score, proving thata lot might have changedin the small town of Arlen, Texas, but the laughs are still very much the same for the viewers watching at home.
At the time of writing,King of the HillSeason 14 has achieved a 100% Tomatometer score on the popular review aggregation site, showing that critics who have been granted early access to screeners are unanimous in their positive verdict. Of course, this could change as there will be many more opinions when the series officially premieres, but the 13 reviews so far indicate thatHank and the gangare back on top form, with many praising the writers for evolving the characters and story in such a way that it still remains true to the original series.

‘King of the Hill’ Is Finally Coming Back to Our Screens, Dang It
17 years later, Mike Judge’s cult-classic sitcom is finally returning to the small screen with a new season on Hulu.
“It’s the rare revival that is able to age its characters and modernized the world, but still feel like the dang ol' king,” Collider’s Nate Richard said in his review. Similar comments were made by Daniel Kurland of Den of Geek, who wrote: “In a sea of TV revivals and remakes,King of the Hillsets a new gold standard on how to do things correctly.King of the Hillisn’t just sizzle; it’s all steak, I’ll tell you what.” Brian Tallerico of RogerEbert.com adds to the chorus of positivity, but suggests that the series picks up after the first episode. His summary reads:

“After a slightly rocky premiere, the 2025 version ofKing of the Hillquickly finds its footing again, and a couple of the episodes in the mid-section of this 10-episode season rank among the best half-hour comedy chapters of the year, anywhere.”
What Is ‘King of the Hill’ Season 14 About?
King of the HillSeason 14 picks up more than a decade after the original series, as creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels return alongside showrunner Saladin Patterson to usher in a whole new era of Arlen antics. According to the logline for the series (below), the 10-episode season follows Hank and Peggy’s retirement years as they return home after a stint overseas and reunite with old friends, Bill Dauterive, Dale Gribble, and Boomhauer. However, things are not quite the same as when they left and even their “baby” has flown the nest.
“After years working a propane job in Saudi Arabia to earn their retirement nest egg, Hank and Peggy Hill return to a changed Arlen, Texas to reconnect with old friends Dale, Boomhauer and Bill. Meanwhile, Bobby is living his dream as a chef in Dallas and enjoying his 20s with his former classmates Connie, Joseph and Chane.”

The trailer for the upcomingKing of the Hillrevival seriesoffered fans a previewof some of the challenges that Hank will face, including Zoom calls, gender-neutral bathrooms, ride-hailing services, veganism, fake sports, and worst of all… fruity beer. Not to mention him being a fish out of water in a world awash with electronic devices and gadgets. It is safe to say that he is going to struggle to adjust to the changes that the new season brings, but from the critics' reviews so far, it looks like viewers will have a much easier time adapting.
Season 14 ofKing of the Hillwill debut on Hulu on Jun 04, 2025.
