Way back in October 2014, Marvel Studios presidentKevin Feigeheld a special half-hour presentation in Hollywood, where he unveiled all of the movies that will be featured in Marvel’s Phase Three lineup. There have been plenty of changes to this slate since then, including the additions ofAnt-Man and the WaspandSpider-Man: Homecoming, while the final movie,Inhumanshas been pulled from the schedule. It was revealed at that event thatAvengers: Infinity War Part IandAvengers: Infinity War Part IIwill hit theaters in May 2018 and 2019, but now it seems that those titles may have changed.

Buried withinDeadline’s report about Oscar-winning actressBrie Larsonemerging as the front-runner forCaptain Marvelis news that Marvel has changedAvengers: Infinity War Part Ito the more simpleAvengers 3. The report claims that Marvel plans on introducing the Carol Danvers character in one of their upcoming movies, such asGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2orAvengers 3, before theCaptain Marvelstand alone movie hits theaters on July 08, 2025. While this is the first we’re hearing about theAvengers 3title, we’ve heard before that the title would be changed.

While promotingCaptain America: Civil Warlast month, directorJoe Russo, who will direct bothAvengers 3andAvengers 4withAnthony Russo, teased that both movies will get new titles, but they haven’t come up with them yet. He also clarified that they are both two very different movies, and the Part I and Part II titles are “misleading,” since they aren’t just two halves ofone gigantic movie. Still, we’ll have to wait and see if Marvel eventually confirms theAvengers 3orAvengers 4titles.

Production is slated to begin this coming November, with bothAvengers 3andAvengers 4slated to shoot back-to-back over a shoot that is expected to last over nine months.Christopher MarkusandStephen McFeely, who wrote all threeCaptain Americamovies, wrote the script for both of these newAvengersmovies, but no plot details have surfaced yet. We do know that Thanos (Josh Brolin) will be the main villain, presumably as he tries to assemble all of the Infinity Gems for the Infinity Gauntlet.

The directors have also teased that theInfinity War movieswill mark a culmination of theMarvel Cinematic Universethus far, and that there may be as many as 67 characters featured in both movies. WritersChristopher MarkusandStephen McFeelyrecently confirmed that theGuardians of the Galaxywill be featured in the upcomingAvengersmovies, which isn’t too surprising since it’s widely believed that all of the previously-established MCU characters will be featured in both movies.
