Warner Bros.‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justiceis not only one of this year’s most highly-anticipated movies, but it also sets up the studio’s massiveDC Comicsmovie universe, which is currently slated to run until 2020. WhileBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justicehasn’t screened for the press yet, a new report fromHitfixclaims that a select few have seen the movie, and the response wasn’t what the studio hoped for. Here’s whatHitfix’s Drew McWeeny had to say, teasing that it could alter the massive slate of movies that will follow.

“Warner is a little bit worried. This movie is starting to scare them. It’s scaring them because they’re showing it to people now, people are actually laying eyes on the film now, and the response has not been what I think they wanted. If I were going to lay a bat on how it may happen,Suicide Squad, they’ll go all-in on. They’ll push all their chips in on that and I thinkSuicide Squad’s going to be a hit for them. I thinkWonder Womanwill be finished the way they’re working on it right now and they’ll release it. I would be surprised ifJustice Leaguestarts shooting when they say it’s going to, and I would be equally surprised ifZack Snyderdirected it.”

Batman vs Superman

Back in November, producerCharles Rovenrevealed that production onJustice League Part 1will begin in the “first or second quarter” of this year, with the producer also debunking a report that claimed bothJustice League Part 1andJustice League Part 2will be shot back to back. It’s worth noting thatHenry Cavillhas already startedtrainingfor the movie, but we haven’t gotten a confirmed production start date for Justice League Part 1 yet. Drew McWeeny also theorized that Warner Bros. may even push Justice League Part 1 in favor of another project.

“My guess is what’s going to happen is based on what I’m hearing… I’ve talked to enough people who have seen the film now that I’m starting to sweat a little, is Justice League is going to get moved back and thatBen Affleck Batmanmovie, that’s what’s going to end up in that spot. My guess is they’re going to throw whatever money it takes atBen Affleckto make thatBatmanfilm happen sooner rather than later. They’re going to need to rebuild again, they’re going to need to win people over, they’re going to need to lay some different groundwork. I don’t think this is going to be the springboard into theJustice Leaguethat they wanted it to be.”

Batman

Of course, we don’t have any confirmation from Warner Bros. thatBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justiceor their DC universe is in “trouble,” but that isn’t something the studio would confirm anyway. With the release ofBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justicejust over one month away, we’ll find out soon enough if this adventure is a hit at thebox office, and with fans and critics alike. We reported earlier this month that the movie is projected to take in $154 million on opening weekend, which is far from any sort of record, but is still a healthy opening weekend. In addition, we also have a new photo fromBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which you can check out below.
