Is Transformers 5 Optimus Prime's Last Movie?

As with anyTransformers sequel, we can expect that a bunch of newrobots in disguise, both working for theAutobotsandDecepticons, will be introduced inTransformers 5. But who will we get to see when the next big screen adventure arrives in summer 2017? A report fromThe Gospel Heraldclaims to know the answer. But it’s best to keep this one locked in the ‘speculation’ category. This isn’t the most reliable scoop site on the Internet. And it doesn’t sound like anyone outside of theTransformers Writers Roomand the producers truly know what is going on with the movie.

What we do know is that Academy Award-winning screenwriterAkiva Goldsmanis penning the script himself after hammering out every possible scenario with his coveted writers group. The movie is said to pick up directly afterTransformers: Age of Extinction.Mark Wahlbergis expected to return. Though,Michael Baystill refuses to commit to the director’s chair, and may only return as a producer. As we’ve heard in the past, the film will open with Optimus Prime soaring through the cosmos in search of the Quintessons, who are the known creators of all the Transformers, both good and bad. But it won’t end well for our dearly beloved Autobot leader.

This new Transformers 5 rumor claims that Optimus Prime will actually be retired after his appearance in the sequel. And a whole new group of Autobots will come into take his place. As we’ve heard before, this new robot army will be led by Ultra Magnus. What we haven’t heard before are who will be his first in command. Apparently being introduced in Transformers 5 are these five robots never before seen on the big screen. Some are Autobots, some are Decepticons. We can expect to see Blitzwing, Scourge, Cyclonus, Override and Red Alert.

Ultra Magnus is the chief lieutenant of Optimus Prime, and will apparently head up a new Autobot army that includes Red Alert and Override. The original Red Alert is a paranoid Autobot"Fire Chief" who can transform into a Lamborghini. He’s gone through several incarnations over the years, and has taken the form of a Fire Truck and a doctor. In the 2009 animated series, Red Alert was actually portrayed as a female surgeon. We’re not sure what form he’ll take here. Override is an Autobot Triggerbot who transforms into a blue and red 1980s Suzuki touring motorcycle. These are the only two new Autobots.

The other three new characters said to be introduced in Transformers 5 are all Decepticons. Cyclonus was created by Unicron and is loyal to Galvatron and the Decepticon cause. The pointy-eared robot turns into a spaceship and is sometimes portrayed as a helicopter. He actually made his live-action debut inTransformers: Age of Extinction, but it’s speculated that this could be a different version of the character. Scourge is Galvatron’s implacable tracker and leader of his own cadré of huntsmen, the deadly Sweeps. It isn’t mentioned whether or not we’ll get to see the Sweeps, but we assume so. Why else introduce the character? The bearded Decepticon is often scene antagonizing Cyclonus in the original Marvel comic books, so it makes sense to have both of them together. Scourge is known for his ability to transform into a bathtub shaped spaceship. The final robot in disguise is Decepticon Blitzwing. He is a Decepticon Triple Changer and often referred to as a psycho. He can transform into a tank.

At this time, as suspected, none of this new information has been confirmed by anyone at Paramount Pictures or Hasbro. Paramount recently announced that they have their entire franchise slate planned out until 2025, which includes four more direct sequels and a number of animated movies and spinoffs, the first of which is Transformers One, a prequel that tracks the Transformers home planet of Cybertron. This latest rumor claims that Transformers 5 may actually be the first in a 2-Part story that will be continued inTransformers 6, which would hit theaters in 2019.

Transformers 5 is said to focus solely on Optimus Prime and his search for the Quintessons.Transformers 6will follow Ultra Magnus and his new army of Autobots on earth. But if this is true, what does that mean forMark Wahlberg’s Cade Yeager, who was still living on the planet at the end ofTransformers: Age of Extinction? Will we not see him untilTransformers 6? That seems unlikely. The two movies are said to culminate in a climactic battle between Ultra Magnus and his team with Unicron, who is the lord of the Decepticons. Is any of this possible? Sure? Likely, maybe not.
