WhenPeter Parker made the choiceto be forgotten, it cleared the slate for him to become a different kind of character. But what does that mean regarding possible storylines that will appear in upcomingMCUmovies? The fact is that it opens quite a few avenues that may have previously been untenable.
Tom Holland has done something very special with theSpider-Mancharacter, possibly one of the few characters that Marvel Studios has truly shown the respect he deserves. That is why it might be time to really dig into the character’s psyche andput him up against the self-destructive power of the Venom symbiote.

Spider-Man Needs a New Beginning
ThePeter Parker of the MCUhad to grow up very fast. Unlike other forms of the character, the MCU took a kid with very new powers and gave him an almost immediate mentor in Tony Stark, gave him an amazing suit, threw him into space, dusted him, gave him a multiverse of villains and the experience of meeting alternate versions of himself. Peter Parker hasn’t even graduated from high school.
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 and Beyond the Spider-Verse Get “Significant” Update from Sony Boss
The upcoming additions to the Spider-Man franchise will be special according to Sony’s Tom Rothman in a brief, teasing update.
But then Spider-Man made the selfless decision to be forgotten. Completely. The finalmoments ofNo Way Homeare heartbreaking yet full of hope as Peter starts his journey the way many people know Spider-Man. He’s sewn a suit, found a dingy apartment, and is listening to the police scanner. Peter restarted his life in the way he thought was best. It is an entirely new way of giving the character a sense of gravitas that has been thoroughly earned. This kid is now practically the MCU’s old guard. But Spider-Man has chosen to earn his way back into the public consciousness.

Throw a Wrench
Here’s the thing: it’s time to ensure that Peter never finds his footing. At least not until he’s a bit older. Meeting theTobey Maguire Spider-Manmay have shown him that a promising future exists, but it’ll take him a long time to get there. That is why Spider-Man needs to be given a chance to test himself in this new life. That is why he needs to come into contact with the symbiote.
Peter Parker’s Journey of Self-Discovery
While Peter’s entiretime as Spider-Manhas been a journey of self-discovery, he is only really starting to learn who he is. In the comics, Peter finds the symbiote on a different planet while in the middle of a battle. This could still happen if he is brought into theSecret Warsmovie. However, we’ve also seen thatVenom left a bit of his symbiote behind when Eddie Brock flipped into the MCUfor a few minutes. Could that piece of the symbiote make its way to New York and bond with Peter?
Venom 3 Gets Disappointing Update From Sony Chairman
Tom Rothman has revealed details about Venom: The Last Dance that are sure to disappoint fans of the Tom Hardy franchise.
If it does happen, and if Peter does bond with the symbiote, it doesn’t have to immediately change his personality like it did Tobey Maguire’s character. In fact, it could be something that Peter is more cautious about. Something that he sees as just another cool suit like the one Tony gave him. It is a new beginning, so why not try a new look? Plus, it makes him feel even more powerful than usual, which can only mean good things. He’s used to swinging around with assistance, so why not this suit? It feels organic, but maybe that’s a good thing. Even if he starts realizing that it speaks to him, it can be an ally.

However, once the symbiote changes him and creates a scarier bond, Peter will start questioning himself and his motivations. He will consider how this new way of thinking is darker but seems to match his feelings of loss and self-destruction. Being Spider-Man without the help of other heroes is difficult, and New York is a big place for one person to protect. He can’t be expected to do all that and stay a happy and friendly person. Right?
Venom Is the Perfect Villain for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man
Spider-Man is a conflicted character, especially when hedoesn’t have MJ. However, the idea that he is creating a new life where he needs to concentrate on the smaller heroics could lead to an inferiority complex. He was an Avenger. He was given control of Stark tech. Why shouldn’t he be given the power and respect he has earned?
The symbiote will bring all these negative emotions out of him. It will cause him to doubt not only himself but the motivations of everyone around him. However, the final step is whether he can break free of these thoughts and emotions, realize it is the symbiote that is dragging him down, and that, regardless of its benefits, it needs to go.This might end with Eddie Brock and Venom returningto take back their missing pieces. It might show that someone like Eddie canhandle being Venombecause he and the symbiote truly have a symbiotic relationship, whereas Peter was filled with far too much regret and self-effacing behavior that he was being overtaken.

Peter Parker is a flawed character, and so far, Marvel Studios has given him every opportunity to be helped by outside forces. It’s time for him to take the first steps on his own and be confronted not by a specific villain but by the symbiote, a being that truly brings him face-to-face with himself.Tom Holland’s latest adventure as Peter Parker,Spider-Man: No Way Home, is streaming now onFuboTV.
