Writer and directorKevin Smithhas revealed that he is now working on a newJay and Silent Bobmovie alongside star Jason Mews. Speaking recently withPopCulture.com, Smith said that he is writing a new movie in the franchise, which will no doubt see the pair of beloved stoners getting up to all manner of mischief once again inJay and Silent Bob 3.
“Right now as we speak, I’m writing another Jay and Silent Bob movie. For me and [Jason Mewes], we always kind of have fun doing those and stuff, so I lost a bet with him. And so I’m writing another Jay and Bob movie.”

Jay and Silent Bob have appeared in every movie in every entry in Smith’s View Askewniverse franchise, first appearing in Smith’s feature film directorial debut,Clerks, way back in 1994. Often featuring as side characters, and more often than not providing whoever the main character is with some much-needed advice, Jay and Silent Bob have also led two of their own movies (plus one animated outing).
Jay and Silent Bob are portrayed by Jason Mews and Kevin Smith himself, respectively, with the duo first playing a main role in the 1999 comedyDogmabefore landing their own movie in 2001’sJay and Silent Bob Strike Back. A Hollywood satire that sees Jay and Silent Bob head to Tinseltown after finding out they are being turned into a movie,Jay and Silent Bob Strike Backreceived mixed reviews from critics but saw success commercially. Well-liked by audiences, the movie led to the release of a sequel,Jay and Silent Bob Rebootin 2019, which once againsatirizes movie-making and comic book films, with Jay and Silent Bob heading to Los Angeles to try and stop the shooting of the movie,Bluntman V Chronic.

Will Jay and Silent Bob 3 Continue the Hollywood Satire?
Jay and Silent Bob Reboot
So, what mightJay and Silent Bob 3be about? For now, Smith is keeping further details close to his chest, but it is possible that the writer and director has found a new way to once again satirize Hollywood with the troublesome pair at its center.
While we await more information,Jay and Silent Bobmost recently featured in another Kevin Smith sequel, 2022’sClerks III. The follow-upreflects Smith’s real-life health scare, as store clerk Randal survives a heart attack and realizes he needs a new purpose in life, deciding to make a movie about him and his friend Dante’s lives at the Quick Stop convenience store.

Aside from writingJay and Silent Bob 3, Smith recently attended L.A. Comic Con where he moderated the panel,The Art of Hope: Cancer and Comics, On and off the Page. A cause that is deeply important to the filmmaker.
“I’ve never gone through cancer personally, but of course, cancer touches my life like it touches everybody. It’s everywhere, pervasive, of course. And so folks that survive a physical trial, I had a massive heart attack a couple of years ago. You come out the other end if you make it and you are on fire creatively. So we figure since it’s Cancer Screen Week, this would be a great way to kick it off by bringing together some folks who share that in common, the love of comics and being cancer survivors at the same time.”
