Jeff Goldblumis always ready with a bit of witty banter, and he recently had a laugh at the expense of himself and his bare-chested moment inJurassic Park. Goldblum returns to the dinosaur franchise inJurassic World: Dominionas Ian Malcolm following his disappointingly brief cameo appearance in the previous movie, and this time he is joined by fellow returnees Sam Neill and Laura Dern in a much larger role.
WithJurassic World: Dominionfinally arriving in cinemas this June after a long Covid delay, Goldblum is currently doing the rounds on the promotional trail and that means plenty of chances for the eccentric actor to deliver many of his well-known Goldblum-isms that the actor has brought to his interviews and indeed his roles for four decades. In a recent interview withVanity Fair, Goldblum addressed the Jurassic Park moment that is often recalled as one of Ian Malcolm’s most memorable scenes; when he is seen posing with an open shirt after narrowly avoiding being eaten by a T-Rex. Laughing, Goldblum said:
“I don’t remember how it came to be. I have no idea.… It just happened somehow. I’m sorry, for better or worse. I apologize profusely. Or…you’re welcome?”
The image of Ian Malcolm bare-chested, resting on one elbow has become the stuff of internet memes, t-shirts and in 2018 even became a huge 25-foot statue in celebration of Jurassic Park’s 25th anniversary.Goldblum also recreate the shot in 2020 and posted the result on his Instagram account.For a moment that comes in the middle of so much dinosaur carnage, over the years Goldblum has been as surprised as anyone as to how the moment has ended up on mugs and other merchandise.

Jurassic World: Dominion Merges The Past and Present In More Ways Than One
Other than the cameo appearance by Goldblum inJurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the only character connection toJurassic Parkin the new movies has been B. D. Wong’s Henry Wu, the scientist who helped John Hammond create his original dinosaurs and who has become the villain of the piece by the time the last movie came to a close. This time around, the franchise brings back its original stars as well as creatures like the Dilophosaurus, which has not been seen since causing the death of Dennis Nedry inJurassic Park, in a movie that promises to conclude the franchise in one big Jurassic crossover. At least for now.
While it is clear that this will be the conclusion of theJurassic Worldtrilogy, it is unlikely that this is the last time we will see the prehistoric franchise on the big screen, and there is no way of knowing exactly where theJurassic Parkstory could go next. With Universal branching out with TV shows, and the animated seriesCamp Cretaceoushaving already been a hit on Netflix, it is possible that we could see a live-action TV series be the next iteration of the dinosaur franchise.
Jurassic World: Dominionwill premiere in cinemas on June 10, and we can probably expect a final trailer to arrive sometime next month.
