Ahead of the debut of her new seriesWednesdayon Netflix,Jenna Ortegahas landed her next starring role. PerDeadline, Ortega has boarded the cast ofMiller’s Girl, a new film in the works from Lionsgate and Point Grey.Martin Freemanalso stars in the film in which “a creative writing assignment yields complex results between a teacher and his talented student.”
Miller’s Girlmarks the directorial debut for writer-director Jade Halley Bartlett.Miller’s Girlranked on the 2016 Black List and Point Grey has been attached to the feature film ever since, though it has taken some time to get production rolling. Mary-Margaret Kunze will produce with Point Grey while Josh Fagen will oversee the project alongside Lionsgate’s Chelsea Kujawa and Scott O’Brien.

“While we are excited for the movie to speak for itself, the level of talent assembled for this special film is a testament to Jade, whose screenplay lures you in with her dazzling voice. And then eats you alive," Lionsgate Motion Picture Group’s President of Production, Erin Westerman, said in a statement.
Production is currently underway on Georgia forMiller’s Girl. The movie does not yet have a premiere date.

Miller’s Girlis the latest casting for Jenna Ortega who has become a favorite in the horror genre as of late. Earlier this year, she had notable roles in a trio of popular horror films, appearing in the newScream, the Foo Fighters flickStudio 666, and Ti West’sX. This follows roles in horror films likeInsidious: Chapter 2andThe Babysitter: Killer Queen, though she’s also appeared in films likeIron Man 3,Yes Day, andThe Fallout.Ortega is also set to reprise herScreamrole in the upcoming sequel that’s arriving next year.
On the small screen, her past work includesJane the Virgin,Stuck in the Middle,You, andJurassic World Camp Cretaceous. Ortega will also soon appear in one of her biggest roles yet as the lead star of a new take onThe Addams Familyfrom director Tim Burton. She’s set to lead the Netflix series, dubbedWednesday, as a new incarnation of Wednesday Addams. The show will hit Netflix this fall.
