The second season ofWednesdayis currently in production, but work on the new episodes is still in the early stages. Premiering on Netflix in November, theAddams Familyreboot series was an instant hit, quickly becoming one of the streaming platform’s most-watched shows in its history. With Jenna Ortega in the role,Wednesdayfollows Wednesday Addams as she attends Nevermore Academy upon departing from the family mansion, though there are special appearances from some of her kooky relatives.

Ortega will be more involved with season 2, as she now serves as an executive producer on the show. While speaking with Jimmy Fallon onThe Tonight Show, she provided an update on the progress of season 2, revealing how work has just started in the writers' room with everyone just now figuring out where to take the story. Of course,Jenna Ortegawon’t give any specifics, but she teased how the second season is planned to up the ante in terms of horror while phasing out the romance.

Wednesday TV show on Netflix

“I think we want to up the horror aspect a little bit, and then get Wednesday out of the romantic situation, and just let her be her own individual and fight her own crime,” Ortega said.

That opinion is shared by Ortega’s co-star Emma Myers, who plays Wednesday’s new pal Enid Sinclair. There are some fans of the show who’ve been hoping for that relationship to turn romantic, and Myers commented on the possibility in a previous interview withVariety. She teased that it was possible, but similarly said that it would be best for Wednesday to avoid romance at this point in her life, given what she’s gone through in season 1.

“As far as love interests go for Wednesday, I feel like at least for a second season, she needs to take her season of singleness,” Myers said. “She just had a whole fiasco with her men, she’s got to lay it off for a little bit. I would be deterred from dating anybody if I had gone through that.”
